Hello all,
I get the digest so your interactions will be delayed, please be
patient.
The case is my father, I know it would be ideal if he would see someone
else but that is not possible. I am still a student but would dearly
love to assist him.
His biggest complaints are numbness in his left hand, primarily the last
two fingers, it changes from all four to the last two, and sleep
problems.
He normally wakes a couple of times and often can't get back to sleep.
Waking at around 1:00 and 4:00 am. These are his biggest complaints,
however there is more.
He has emphysema, cannot get his breath easily, on meds (nebulizer 4x
per day) for this and they help. He coughs in the morning after rising.
He has prostrate problems, urgent urination and frequency.
Mentally he is frustrated, angered easily, restless, impatient and has
been all of his life. He is almost constantly taping his fingers on
something, moving his wrist joint in circles and moving his tongue
around his mouth. Has had ringworm off and on. He is thin, muscular for
a 76 year old and loves to be outdoors working. He is a farmer. Does not
like to be touched, pulls back. He has always had this martyr attitude.
He does all the "important" work "somebody's has to do it", yells at his
wife when no one else is around. (the children complain when he does it
in front of them). Worries alot, but it is not obvious unless asked. He
never gives a direct answer to a question, "i don't know". His son says
he is always on the fence, will never give a straight answer. Hates to
talk on the phone, (performance?) Drinks coffee, heavy meat eater,
dislikes cucumbers and raw foods. Smoked a pipe from 20's till a couple
years back and quit cold turkey when he had his teeth pulled, never
complained. Now sucks on a piece of candy almost all the time.
He was injured a few months back while driving the tractor, he says he
overused his arm and hand. It first was pain in the neck and shoulder
running down to the wrist and hand. Now it seems settled in the wrist
and hand. We considered the possibility of a mild stroke, had tests done
and results indicated he had not had a stroke.
questions?

a case
Re: a case
I think this is an interesting case (taken approx. one year ago) - if anyone
would like to work out the remedy.
CASE
Male, 29, average height, quite over weight for height, fair, early hair
loss. Presently not working but family is wealthy and he is not sure about
working in family business - taking his time to decide. Comes across as very
intelligent, somewhat superior attitude which melted a bit during case
taking. Likes to 'use' language, flamboyant use of words when really not
necessary. Dressed in much the same manner (shirt with little flowers on)
and an unusual green suit.
Presenting complaint - "My life is falling apart" + diarrhoea
diarrhoea can come on at any time
at least 2-3 times a day (never night time)
sometimes has a bit of blood in stool, otherwise just loose, soft, normal
colour
anus itches after stool (possible bleeding haemorrhoids inside)
some pain in abdomen before stool but not always
pain is anxious, tight, pulling (used many other non-repertorisable words)
doesn't seem to be > by any food or drink
craves still water or watered down fruit juice
no strong food cravings or aversions
very little else to tell me about diarrhoea
his life is falling apart because he has lost his girl friend of 3 years.
a year previous they were on a ski trip together - he had a bad accident and
broke bones in 3 places in right leg and right wrist - he was treated well
in a local hospital with follow ups in UK. Healing took time but he was
given the all clear but the pain continued.
pain not only in leg but also in the back - aches, sometimes tingling,
cannot sit for long periods of time, pain seems to stick to one place i.e.
doesn't move around or radiate, > warmth.
relationship with partner was intense, passionate, sexual - he was very much
in love - she abandoned him when he was in hospital, gone off with someone
else - it was so sudden and unbelievable to him that it should happen, that
she should leave him - no warning.
since then everything has been falling apart - doesn't know what to do with
his life, cannot make decisions, cannot bring it all together, doesn't know
what direction to go in, feels pulled in many directions, father wants him
to work with him (furniture business), is getting angry with son for not
getting his act together, his friends keep telling him the same thing "pull
yourself together"
has many academic qualifications but doesn't know what to do with them
feels that he is all over the place but not achieving anything - he is just
sitting around "navel gazing" but then gets agitated with all this
had periods of very itchy skin as a teenager, especially in summer, "felt as
though I had been tickled with bristles" - scratched a lot but no eruption,
disappeared of its own accord.
rather difficult to get more from him
Hope you find this of interest. I will write the follow up and case analysis
in due course.
Best wishes, Joy Lucas

Re: a case
Joy's case is indeed very interesting.
Not a clear picture at all.
Causation: shock of losing girlfriend. The accident, too, but those pains
weren't part of his chief complaint.
Miasm: Basically sycotic.Overweight, expansive, very sure of himself before
the emotional shock.
Reaction to shock:
Nonspecific diarrhea
A sort of emotional stupefaction: can't decide to do anything.
If he's loquacious and flamboyant, and also closemouthed about his feelings
and symptoms, one might extrapolate (dangerously??) that he at least doesn't
enjoy talking about his symptoms.
Probably a plant.
There's no sense of panic in this case, or I'd suggest Acon. Ign might
apply -- it has the main characteristics and the causality.
The repeated theme of "scattered" and falling apart" makes me think
seriously of Baptisia, where that's the primary sensation -- apparently
emotionally in response to a shock, as well a s physically. Baptisia also
figures as a third degree remedy under "diarrhea." It doesn't, however,
have itching anus after stool, which seemed to me the only relevant --
though tiny -- modality. I don't know how much credence to give to it.
Constitutionally, he strikes me as probably Lyc.
I'll be very interested in what the remedy actually is.

Are you a homeopath? Homeopathy for this condition will work well if a full case history is taken including generalities and physical symptoms even though they are normal, and a remedy found for the individual rather than just the symptoms. There are many remedies for Urination profuse, night

Dear One,
Post operative 'Micturia' is a common complication. Perhaps TURP has been done. It requires dilatation of urethra. For which Staph. is a good drug. We can also think of Bellis-p Q. & Hypericum Q or potency.
