Hi
To add to what Tanya found:-
From a 100 yr old dictionary I have, ALBUGO has 3 meanings:
1 a white spot, as upon the cornea
2 a whitish scaly eruption
3 the white of an egg
Re Albuginea:
white or whitish
A. oculi - the sclerotic coat of the eye
A. ovarii and testis - the tunica albuginea of the ovaries or testicle
The spleen, the epididymis, the penis, and the kidneys have each an
investment or capsule called albuginea or tunica albuginea
Albugineous: whiteish or resembling the white of an egg
Albuginitis: inflammation of a tunica albufinea
Regards
Robyn

Re: ALBUGO WHAT IS IT?
from Encyclopedia Homeopathic
Hill & Hunt "The Homepathic Practice of Surgery"
Chap XXV
section: "Opacities of the cornea"
"Albugo in some respects resembles nubula, chiefly differing from it in
being *deeper seated.*
It is also referable to some preternatural deposit of lymph between the
laminae of the *cornea itself,* to which it gives a *pearly white*
appearance.
Hering, "Guiding Symptoms"
Aurum
Skin
"patches of a brown hue and some like albugo'
Yasgur
Leucoma (albugo) - a white opacity of the cornea, usually dense & opaque.
I believe that the references to albugo & skin are allegorical, since they
appear *only* under Aurum, and only in a few places.. it is most likely that
one author made this allegorical reference (maybe Hering?) which was then
copied by (very few) others... the allegory is probably based on infections
of vegetables, caused by a mycelium: White Rust of Crucifers (Albugo
candida) - Also known as staghead, white rust is a disease that infects
cruciferous plants (such as cabbage, broccoli, and kale) wherever they occur
in the world.
References to albugo and eye are "medically correct."
