Anti-inflammation and spice
Anti-inflammation and spice
The issue of food and spice solubility is greatly underrated. This issue will become the future of food and supplements. When I started taking my turmeric dissolved in oil (for reducing inflammation), it made a HUGE difference. In fact, without being dissolved in oil, I was entirely going on what someone else said about turmeric. Once I started taking it dissolved in oil, it not only actually worked (what a concept!), but it also opened up a whole new world of solubility. Not only does turmeric have solubility issues, but just about everything that we eat does.
But for spices, I have the following (but probably not final) solution (excuse the pun):
At first I tried to figure out which spice was soluble in either water or oil, but I kept getting contradictory information and not very much information at that. So, I took the EFT approach. Instead of putting spice X in the water jar and spice Y in the oil jar, I just put all of my spices in a single jar, and then I also put in the jar butter, coconut oil, olive oil, and water. "But, Roger, water and oil don't mix!". I don't care. When I vigorously shake the jar (hopefully with the top securely on), the water soluble spices will go into solution in the water, and the oil soluble spices will go into solution in the various oils. I also heat the jar up to but NOT beyond 120 degrees, and I shake it some more and more.
Then when I want a teaspoon or tablespoon full, I shake it again very vigorously and take some with a spoon. I also put a little salt in it to improve the taste. This is very inflammation reducing. Taking just the pills did basically zero for me except make me feel warm and secure knowing that I was doing this very holistic and healthy thing.
I may take a teaspoon full of this mixture 4 or 5 times a day. This jar should last me for more than a week.
I am not the slightest bit worried about it going bad. Why did Columbus sail the ocean blue ignoring the advice of ALL authorities of the time, and why did numerous other Europeans risk their lives trying to find a shorter and less expensive route the Indies? Because spices greatly retard spoiling. When you look at, smell, and taste your mixture, you will understand that there is no way that germs could survive such an environment. I just leave my spice solution jar out on the counter, not the slightest bit worried that it is going to go bad.
This issue is big, so I hope that other people will make comments and have questions. This saves me a lot of money. I would bet that per day I am spending 100 times less for spices and getting 100 times more out of it.
Sincerely,
Roger Bird

I fry my spices in olive or coconut oil or ghee which should help.
Was so interested to think that the Tibetans use butter in their or ghee in tea and can add spices.. Perhaps old wisdom that thereby more nutritionally rich.

This is very creative!
What spices besides turmeric do you put in there? Are they all in powder form?

I should say that Irene is probably ahead of me on this, and Dr. Jon from New Zealand is the one who I reacted to to start thinking and experimenting with it.
I use cumin, cardamom, coriander, cinnamon, ginger, 4 X turmeric, and 1/3 X clove. But turmeric all by itself will work wonders. Buying the pills, no matter what they say, no matter how much curcumin they say that they have, and no matter the cost, is a complete waste of time and money. This is so easy, it is like a blind drunk with ALS falling off of a wet log floating in the bayou.
I probably use all of those spices because I am an obsessive and committed Scorpio who likes to mix things. Trust me when I tell you that I didn't think them all through. Perhaps I should. (:->)

Wow, interesting! What spices are you using in the jar?

I would just like to remind everyone that herbal treatments can be just as suppressive as allopathic treatements and they are frequently given with the same allopathic indications without individualization..
My choice would be to use them one step before going to allopathic treatment, as being less harsh.
That said, I found a good tumeric product called Turmoxycillin (a nod to allopathy fer sure) in India from "Vikram Herbal Products" company. The pamphlet that comes with it advises a dose of ONE drop. Its pretty concentrated. Its a 10 ml plastic bottle, list price 80 INR, so would be cheap to have sent by courrier. Shelf life is two years.
They dont appear to have a website.

They are all powdered: turmeric (X 4), cumin, coriander, cardamom, clove (divided by 3), cinnamon, and ginger. I think that that is it.
It is very powerful and should probably not be taken all by itself, even a teaspoon, as it is too pitta. Lots of water or other cooling stuff.

Roger: Friend sent this today: http://healthimpactnews.com/2014/black- ... e-science/
Yes cumin seeds and oil are winners! Do you understand what the differences would be? Have you ever purchased cumin oil? I am currently infusing olive oil with black mustard seeds and garlic for culinary purposes but it's still "infusing" in the jar. I'm going to do the same with cumin and see what happens because I don't see any other way to get oil from cumin!
http://www.cancertutor.com/black_cumin/
Although he is using it for prostate cancer, these articles and studies definitely seem to indicate that we are on the right track with our JAR BASED inflammation system!
Keep reading and keep changing as you treat yourself. I made a mistake that was very painful over the past few days. I was putting the jar goodies on top of raw nuts. My gut didn't handle the skins or something. If you put the anti-inflammation on raw nuts (PALEO) test your gut w/nuts slowly. Since I too am a Scorpio, I tend to think a lot is better than a little! How many times do I have to learn this lesson?
Thanks for your update. Also, seems like the Middle East is light years ahead of the so called Western intelligencia! Of course we know that but need to be reminded periodically.

Roger Barr,
I believe you. Such remediation can also unbalance on Ayurvedically.
