Re: frightful event
so the aconite could cause suppression instead.........I don't want to cause anything worse
Re: frightful event
I support Ginny’s suggestion of seeing an experienced homeopath. The reason I posted a small rep was to show, that while Aconite is a good idea, there are other good ideas, too. As your Mom expresses more detail about the effects of her shock/fear/trauma … a professional homeopath can help sift and sort what is characteristic.

I would expect a result, with calming and rationality returning within about ten minutes. I would have repeated the dose in 15 minutes if there were no result, and be prepared to repeat as often as it takes to keep symptoms at bay, which interval should decrease over a day or so.
If I had a higher potency like a 200c, I would use it if the 30c failed to last.
Generally speaking there are many aspects of this case which could and should be handled by an experienced homeopath. If they are not, she runs the risk of carrying some effects down the road. I am concerned in particular by any suppression of feelings or thoughts about the incident.

Re: frightful event
hmmm the thing is she works nights so she would have slept anyways.......the only way I can tell if it may be right is if she sleeps more than 2 hours, because the past 2 days she could only sleep 2 hours then woke up in a fright so I guess I will see, but will not give her any more doses of anything
Re: frightful event
I noticed something interesting 30 or so years ago. I had a near accident. The
next day I had a massage class and while someone was working on me...I got a
momentary fright and made a very breathy sound. The image of the near
accident came to my mine. Thereafter, when I met someone who had a terrible
fright I encouraged them to scream. Or if I'm with my grandchildren and have a
close call...I make them all scream at the same time which they all think is
so fun. But I do think it helps to have one's hands on the person who had the
scare.

Re: frightful event
No, I didn't say that. I am concerned that she may suppress her fears and anxieties as time goes by. You mentioned that she hides her feelings, and this is never a good thing as far as health. Homeopathic treatment could clear up many areas, some of which will come out more clearly because of this incident.
Use the aconite as long as it helps. Then stop. Fears and recriminations which come up later should be addressed with the totality of her personality, character, and other physical and mental symptoms.

Re: frightful event
I was taught that you're not going to get suppression, or even aggravation, in this kind of intense situation. My first thought would have been 10M if I had it, or else frequent repetition as Ginny suggested (but I have no actual experience with doing that).
Interested in others' input on it.

Re: frightful event
In this kind of acute situation, I would not hesitate to give more doses if it seems indicated.
And I agree that Aconite seems absolutely relevant. One possibility could be to give night / morning / night split dose (or morning / night / morning), then stop and watch.
Or if very intense and initial dose doesn't bring it down within a short time (one minute? five minutes?), the repeat for a few doses. I wish I had experience with that approach, using quick repetition instead of high potency; I don't, but have been taught about it by people whose experience I trusted.
Actually I did it *once*, with someone in a months-long intense Ignatia state following abortion -- night / morning / night with a 30c. She said she felt a *little* better after the first, not much change. Then further improvement after the following morning's dose, and everything lifted after the third dose that evening. She was relieved and enthusiastic. One story definitely qualifies as "anecdotal", but it's a start.
