There's a very simple solution to this - go into yahoogroups, and Manage My Groups then change the setting to 'DAILY DIGEST'
You'll get the daily (or maximum of 25) messages bundled as one email. Such daily digest emails have a table of contents, you can simply pick and choose your topics with a single click.

But for those folks who do use the digest version, we should be trying to carry on the late great JW's banner, pleading with each other to TRIM POSTS! I tried the digest version briefly, and the loooooooong scrolling to get through the untrimmed ones, is pretty intimidating. (Speaking as one of the guilty, but when I think of it, I try…)

A third solution is to set your email to arrive by subject...
This is what I use.
Eah subject arrive with the follow up and no trimming needed.
This way I don't read subject I am not interesting in.
And the subject I want to read I have the latest answer with only three little point down like this :... I can click on if I want the whole roll up.
Very easy.
