changeable mood

Post by koina57 »

I learned that one should first of all look at the change in the mental sphere and status of energy of the patient to judge if a remedy works well or not.
But what to do when the mood is very changeable, so that it is hard to see if this is just a temporary high/low or a real improvement/getting worse?
How do you judge cases like this?

You have to judge over a longer period of time.
So you might need to make sure the patient has tools on board to cope with
such upheavals as occur in the interim?

Hi Allen!
Thanks for your answer.
But my original question was: If you give one of these remedies to such a patient - What parameters do you use afterwards to check if the remedy was correct?
Could you please say anything on that, too?

Hi Shannon!
I guess by "longer period of time" you mean months?
Thanks

one thing that comes to mind is to question the severity or frequency of mood changes.

Well, it would depend on the case (sorry).
For a similar example, if you're treating someone for seasonal allergies,
you won't be able to test the rx's effectiveness on those allergies until
their season arrives again! So if your pt has a regular sort of variation
it's of course easier to see whether the pattern has weakened; but if there
isn't much pattern, or it covers a very long time frame or whatever, then
you have to wait longer to see whether there are changes *in that pattern*.

But again, I would expect to see *other* aspects of the case that *would*
show signs of change along the way, that would lend either hope or
skepticism to the likelihood of improvement in the mentals. E.g. other
aspects of "the case", other factors on which remedy selection was based, or
which at least supported the choice of remedy: Are there any difficulties
with things such as sleep, appetite, reactions to weather, sensitivities,
overall sense of wellbeing and energy, ability to respond flexibly and
appropriately to various things in their life... It's hard to imagine that
"the case" contains *nothing* that would be expected to change, except for
those irregular emotional changes.

Are you thinking of a particular case (I assume)? Can you say any more
about it?
