Roger: I buy all those spices at Vitamin Cottage. Why? When I ask at the Indian store if it's organic and non-GMO they tell me that everything (including packaged items like jiggery) are organic and non-GMO and that they don't need to label it. Is that true?
I use ginger in a different (BEEbuz2) tea (fresh every day) and just scrape it with a knife into the cup. I have a new Champion juicer, but if I put ginger in there to juice it I'd need a pound or two to get juice!! ??? How do you juice it twice? I bought ginger at VC yesterday. I'm going to ferment it with whey so that it's more bioavailable. What do you think? If I use a shredder it just all sticks to the stainless steel, so I guess I will just use the knife technique and try to get the juice in the jar??? I see some juice when I do that, but very little. I just put the pulp in the cup with the other goodies and eat it when I'm finished.
You seem good at concoctions. Any thoughts?
Ok, but how much ginger are you using to get "juice" and "pulp" to ferment? I've been going to do Dom's ginger drink (can't remember the name) forever, but it seems so complicated that I just think, "do it" and don't!
Is this "juiced ginger" Dom's recipe? No, it wouldn't go bad because it's fermented, but you know that GINGER is not cheap. That is an issue for me.
If Big Pharma could get its hands on my Extreme Aged vinegar they would try to do the same thing. I hope to find a way to get it to people who need it, but I am not a food scientist and don't know how to take it to the marketplace without money! Everything is about $$$ for me. I spend so much on remedies, supplements, herbal formulas and grass fed MEAT and dog stuff that I have no money after the first week of the month!
Big Pharma did manage to "bottle" the goodie part of garlic and sell it for $60 an ounce. They also made it into pills of course. I used to take it for infection... but now I use Dr. Joe's natural/raw formula!
Indian store and more!
Re: Indian store and more!
Vicki,
To tell you the truth, I don't fret too much about organic or non-GMO. I'll let other people fret on those matters. I get my spices from a very nice Indian grocer, and every time I go into his store he asks me about how my son is doing and what a blessing from God children are. I like that better than worrying about organic or non-GMO.
I have an Omega Juicer, and I get almost 90% by weight out of juicing (and that doesn't count the soaking. I was so astonished at how much I was getting out of the juicing that I did a very careful study on it and was blown away by the volume.
I am talking about my juiced ginger staying good in my refrigerator for at least a month.
I try to reality check by observing if something is actually helping my body. There is a lot of groupthink in the health field because scientists and medical doctors and the government refuse to help us. So we have to try to discriminate between what is valuable to oneself and what is not.
Putting my spices in fatty oils works for me. (:->)
Any more question or comments. This assimilation business is all new to me, and I am happy to get rid of a lot of the bottles that I now have.
