Maybe we should take our remedies in ghee.
Re: Maybe we should take our remedies in ghee.
So, I just had my brand spanking new, groovy fatty spices concoction: turmeric, my ginger juice, and cinnamon poured into melted butter. I stirred it around for a while and then let it sit for several minutes, and then poured it into my blending kefir smoothie.
Now we will see. But I believe in this enough so that I don't need any dramatic and observable benefits, like much better sleep or levitating (:->).
I will save the pills for those in my family unable or unwilling to eat/drink a fatty spices concoction.

I should imagine this is also true of ginger, horseradish, galangal, ginseng, etc.... My own theory is that we are not well equipped to digest and utilize vegetable matter by itself in any case, and that fatty foods, oils, meat fat, etc. always help in the absorption.

Re: Maybe we should take our remedies in ghee.
So, I took my spices in butter last night. This is a very powerful step up. It kept me up until 3:40 A.M. playing Scrabble. I see this as a whole new frontier for health research: assimilation techniques. Budwig comes to mind as a vanguard researcher in this field. Such research will not be funded by pill makers. But then some pill maker will realize that they can soak their goodies in the appropriate sauce, tell their customers, and charge much less. But medical doctors won't be telling their customers about it for 40 or 50 years.
Anyway, I made two mistakes. I underestimated the power of this technique. Instead of 1 teaspoonful of each spice, which is about 5 millilitres, I am trying 1 millilitre this morning. The other thing is that I need to take it earlier in the day so as to not mess with my sleep. But the effect is awesome. I have much less inflammation and feel much more vigorous.
I warm some butter and coconut oil up in a class jar so as to not risk the possibility of breaking a cool glass jar with a hot liquid. Then I put any other oil that I might be putting into my smoothie, put in the spices, then shake it 200 times. Then I pour this into the rest of my smoothie in the blender, and then enjoy.
I am looking forward to doing more research, and I profusely thank Jon from New Zealand for this tip of reducing my expenses and improving my health.

You should have said "Indian cows" . Our native cows have humps typically. The present thing talked about is that all Indian native cows give A2 milk. The milk of Indian cow is presently twice costlier than Jersey/ milk which are available through government controlled co operative outfits. Native ghee is five times costlier than Jersey ghee.
As a rule their yield is less but worth many times. My father's generation went for imported Jersey and Holstein crossbred varieties and devastated a whole breed. Now, the awareness is back and many groups are working with a great zeal to preserve the purity of native breeds and they are making a comeback.

Some components dissolve in fats and others dissolve in water. (Look at how we make homeopathic tincturers to extract exactly whay dissolves where). So those that dissolve in fats would be better cooked in ghee etc and those dissolving in water would be better cooked in water.
This applies to many things. For example magnesium is best absorbed with water and no fat, and calcium is best absorbed in presence of fat. Nature provides both appropriately - magnesium in leaves with no fat, and calcium in milk containing fat.
Namaste,

do you need to cook it in fat, or just eat / take it with fat?

I just put the spice in warmed (hence liquid) coconut oil and shake. That is when I want to use the spice as a supplement or remedy.

Yes... me too but I don't warm the oil... and I use some coconut cream too (more cream than oil). Then I add turmeric, cinnamon (another anti-inflammation spice, right?) and I add shredded ginger, a tiny touch of Himalayan salt to get the ginger to ferment... and I let the ginger and coconut cream ferment for 3-4 days before stirring it in to the oil/cream mix. I also some (a bit) of manuka or regular raw honey to kill the sharp taste of the spices. Since I got this new coconut oil and use it in oil pulling and for this "remedy"... the ulcers in my mouth have gotten better.
Now I'm working on the recipe for stress. As I understand it, stress > inflammation and hormone issues. I haven't discovered anything for stress other than non-attachment and a daily meditation practice.
My inflammation shows up around my ankles and up! It's so painful I can hardly stop myself from trying to suppress it with scratching.
Best,
Vicki

Right arm, Joe! I have gotten to the point where I put about 1/2 coconut oil in with 1/2 olive oil and warm them up to about 110 degrees F and shake them. Since olive oil dissolves the coconut oil, and olive oil has a much lower melting point, and since olive oil is also healthy, this becomes my base which should never harden, unless I fail to pay my heating bill. In my jar this will last for days. (I might even start adding a little butter.) Then I add my spices and shake with extreme vigor for 200 times. I put it on the counter and come back several hours later, and it it is still liquid. Thanks to the olive oil, it will always be liquid.
When I want a little turmeric (and/or other spices), I just take a little sip, a very little sip. The taste is like nothing. This is very convenient, and works MUCH better than any pills ever did.
