Thanks Vicki for the info. Yes, one of the things I've been doing is raw honey several times per day. It helps my cough but only for a short time. I live in an apartment so no property to house bee hives. :)

How do you take your electrolytes -- lemon-honey-salt, or ? I seem to get plenty from plain ol' food, but I'm looking for electrolyte ideas for my father.

When dehydrated in the hot summer sun, I find Apple Cider Vinegar (2 tbs in water, sometimes more) gets me
back to normal in minutes. I only use organic brands like Eden’s or Bragg's

Am full of strange beliefs Irene!! I wonder if anyone else feels the way I do about colds? My sister swears by Aconite to nip her colds in the bud but I always let my 1 or 2 a year through !!! There is Mullein tincture in my mix as I had/still have a lot of mucus but as I said I haven’t been ill with it.

I believe a cold is toxins coming out of the body and needs to be left alone to do the job
I find that a very strange belief.

My view is to avoid or prevent colds, take Aco 200C at the first sign to nip it in the bud, and to support the thymus with Moducare and salmon (not the antibody system with echinacea etc), and eat well - no junk. I do add a remedy if it is keeping me from my normal activites.
For the current cold or whatever it is that affects the bronchial tubes with post nasal choking mucus, does well with plenty of liquid plus mullein tincture to break the mucus. Also Ascorbic acid lozenges, total avoidance of sugar/starch, blood glucose control as needed, and my illness diet consisting of:

* Lots of dandelions and lamb leg roast with strong mint-apple jelly, and occasional half glass of good shiraz:-)
* Plenty of ginger chunks with lots of water and electrolytes.
* Latte as desired with whipped cream on top, plus blueberries.

* Plenty of Oil: coconut oil, fish oil, e-v-olive oil, Vit E.

Namaste,

Irene

For very young children, getting colds and minor fevers is the way the body builds its immunity.
So I understand your wanting to let the body just heal. Not that strange an idea. It is just
frustrating for a parent to deal with a sickly small child, especially if they are of the clingy or
very cranky type.

I know that theory. If the remedy works, another view is it teaches the body to heal too. I treat before it progresses to chest, pneumonia, or ear involvement- if sxs are clear.
Constitutional Rx obviously will reduce acutes dramatically, so that is another option as soon as recovery is established- and that doesn’t reduce the immunity of the body.

It will do that with or without a remedy but the opposite happens with aspirin, antibiotics and other drugs.
Making the child stay ill, does not improve the immune system, as it adds stress which produces cortisol and that, like any glucocortocoid steroid, does severe damage to the immune system, especially the very vulnerable thymus gland.

So a mild cold could be left alone but a nasty one is best helped by a remedy or the tymus will be damaged.
I base this on knowing what happens ot the thymus with each approach.

Namaste,
Irene

Except that diluted vinegar of any kind, is NOT a source of electrolytes. It only provides the water. Vinegar is acetc acid, (no electrolytes there)
Electrolytes are potassium, magnesium, sodium....
The easiest way to take these is in a capsule, along with plenty of enjoyable liquid.
