Hi Maria,
I do not know about ledum in lyme disease but an interesting thing has come
up for me in its use. My cats, who get into numerous cat fights and come
home with deep wounds would always develop nasty infections I had to deal
with.
Then a few months ago Max came home with 4 or 5 nasty punctures on his face
and I though Oh great- here we go again. This time I gave ledum right away
and no problem ever developed. The only symptom I treated upon was puncture
wound. He's come home bloody once since and I didn't treat and nothing came
of it. Its amazing!
Best,
Barbara

Re: Lyme disease/Ledum
Dr. Steve Tobin, a homeopathic vet published an article on the treatment of
Lyme's Disease with the use of Ledum 1M. In his experience, and mine, the
use of Ledum for the treatment of Lymes has been found to have excellent
success. I agree with Maria though, that good case taken techniques are
always required even when we are dealing with any case, including Genius
Epidemicus remedies/diseases.

Well, having had severe, acute definitively diagnosed Lyme myself
(succesfully treated *without* antibiotics), and having treated many, many
dogs with this diagnosis, I have never see Ledum act very favorably.
I believe that though Ledum may be a close enoughicum (as Will Taylor says)
in some cases, it is anything but a specific. The disease is grossly
over-diagnosed in dogs (any sick dog with a single positive Lyme titer is
usually diagnosed with Lyme). Most of these patients are manifesting an
acute flare-up of psora which may be one reason why Ledum apparently works
well in people (see Will's excellent article on the topic at
http://www.wholehealthnow.com/homeopathy_pro/wt11.html) but not in dogs (in
my experience).
Just my $.02.
Jeff
BTW-My case of acute Lyme was cured dramatically with a single dose of
Lachesis 200c.

Re: Lyme disease/Ledum
Well, in light of the recent discussion, I hate to say it, but many of my
cases have been resolved with Belladonna. Many others require a series of
remedies that either reflects my lack of clarity in the case or perhaps the
fact that Lyme is not a simple acute miasmatic infection in the dog (there
are some veterinary homeopaths who don't believe it is a true acute disease
in dogs at all).
