My daughter is in a graduate program at Fordham Univ in NYC.
They have asked her to participate in a crash course in the England this
winter I believe (need more details). It is being held at Kennsingtion College (univ).
Finances being very tight, she is looking for someone who is willing to host her
for 2 weeks in Kennsington as transportation will be something that has to be
figured out. I have no idea what public transportation is like in that area.

She also says that given the intensity of the course, she will not be in the home very much,
mainly for sleeping.

The course is related to UN work on social issues which dovetail into her Master in Social
Work program in which she is enrolled.

If anyone can offer some assistance in this, we would very much appreciate it.

If this is Kensington in London public transport is very good but accommodation very expensive. Does the college not have accommodation?

NO. This is a program of the United Nations and people who participate get university credit from the institution
they are enrolled in. In this case it is in the US and all costs are on the student. So it is very expensive. My daughter
may also lose her pay from her job if she takes off to attend this crash course. That is why I said I would see if
anyone would be able to host her or help find someone who would.

It is in Kensington so good to know there is public transportation to get to the college there where the classes will
be held. The program is about 2 weeks where they cover 15 weeks of work. A very intense experience but can
be rewarding.

Fordham does have London student housing for their grad programs at Heythrop College.
Since she is a student, can't hurt to ask if she can take advantage of it.

I will pass this on but the issue is cost. The idea is to find housing that does not charge as funds
are very low and doing this program may cost her income from her job. This may make participation
prohibitive. FYI, there is a possibility of doing housing swaps if someone want to visit NYC in June

Question: You mention Heythrop College. Is that in Kensington? I have no idea what is the
institution in which the classes are being held.

If she's going solo when there are no other students there for the standard exchange program, the housing they offer for that purpose may not be available. Given she's going to earn credit for her degree, has a good reason to ask to use that housing. .
Can also contact Heythrop, in the links, and say she's coming related to her Fordham degree and see what they may offer since they are affiliated and already have had Fordham students there.
There could be a dorm available and this is for her study, not a tourist on vacation.
Not sure exactly where Heythrop is, but looks like in the area.
Maybe she can ask to use vacation/sick time as only 2 weeks needed, if available to her.
Sounds like too good an opportunity to pass up, I know MSWs, can make good salaries to start depending on background.
Can also try www.airbnb.com and other room share websites to get idea what shares people are offering.

Can be near London but in neighborhoods on Tube lines. Like staying in Yonkers and taking train into Grand Central.
