Cholesterol; was Eggs Off Topic

Post by Roger B »

For anyone not able to follow the thinking of Irene and me about cholesterol, here goes:

Cholesterol is the building block of the body's efforts to repair the nicks in coronary arteries, among other IMPORTANT uses. The nicks in the coronary arteries are the result of dietary deficiencies, usually and particularly vitamin C, copper, the amino acids that make up gelatin, and perhaps other nutrients, but particularly vitamin C. If the body, in it's finite but spectacular wisdom, did not try to patch the nicks with cholesterol, coronary arteries would be bursting left and right, and a burst artery is much worse than a clogged artery. A burst coronary artery is like instantaneous death.

Cholesterol is the basis of many different hormones, steroidal hormones, I believe, and vitamin D (which is really a hormone anyway). If I could magically snap my fingers and make a person's circulating cholesterol disappear, I would choose a recreational serial murderer to try that trick on, because he would die very quickly, perhaps in a matter of seconds or minutes. Cholesterol is not merely an OK thing. It is a terribly important thing.

The body makes about 75% to 80% of your circulating cholesterol. Whatever cholesterol that you eat gives the body a rest from having to manufacture more cholesterol to keep the correct level of cholesterol in the body. Cholesterol is a very expensive and complicated molecule. Having to make it all would be a great burden on the resources, energetically and physically, of the body. So I eat as much cholesterol as I can, within the limits of an otherwise healthy diet. I eat salads, so I don't get much cholesterol there. But my kefir smoothie has 3 eggs and melted butter in it. I believe that nuts and seeds also have cholesterol, etc. This kind of cholesterol loading is only "bad" if I were not supplementing with vitamin C, trace minerals, gelatin. My pulse is generally below 60. I have even recorded a pulse a few months ago of 48; I kid you not. Usually it is around 56 to 58, sometimes lower.

Almost all salad dressings are advertised as low cholesterol, thanks to the idiotic medical doctors, so I try to make my own salad dressing.

Any questions? Any comments?

Sincerely,
Roger Bird

You'd die fast if you did, starting with your brain failing to function at all.
That's what happens to peope on too much statin, the brain quits, it cannot function without its daily cholesterol.
