Ebola: Remain calm...

Post by Roger Barr »

Dr. Keith Scott-Mumby injects a bit of rational calm into the frantic discussion about Ebola:

No prizes for guessing where I’ve been the last 2 weeks, when I tell you I took this photo!

His theory is incorrect.

Each Ebola outbreak started because the local wildlife population of chimpanzees, monkeys and duikers (very specifically these speciesa) had a major Ebola outbreak - and humans contracted it from the dying animals.
It was not started by some nun with a dirty syringe.

Nuns do not run around with syringes dirtied by Ebola. It is a class four organism requiring class four containment to do any work with it., Is he suggesting the nun got some for Christmas?

Let's stay real.

Namaste,
Irene

I havent been following it that closely but I doubt if they can ever be sure about vectors. There is still a huge debate about the initial vectors of AIDS.

The primary point seems valid, even so. The human population in these countries has been under massive stress for a long time, including the medical personnel treating it. And we all know that susceptibility is the key factor.

I wouldnt freak out about Ebola outside of the 4 African countries involved until there is solid evidence it is spreading.
