Can you recommend books on Homeopathy?
I'm new to homeopathy and want to get deeper and deeper into it. I would love to build up my library of homeopathic books. Could you please recommend some good book/s? Anything that would add to my knowledge...there are so many available so it's difficult to assess which ones to get to start with. Looking for books on:
-Homeopathy philosophy
-practical application of homeopathy
-a good comprehensive starter guide or handbook for remedies and dosing that covers childhood illnesses, and family/self care etc.
-a good materia medica
-good books on homeopathy and vaccines
-homeopathy and children
-anything recommended as good/essential reading in homeopathy.
Note I have already read Vithoulkas and Amy Lansky
Thank you.
Shelley

Re: Can you recommend books on Homeopathy?
Dear Shelly
I would start with Kent's philosophy (and start with chapter 8 and then go back to 1).
Stuart Close
Elizabeth Wright Hubbard
For Materia Medica, I would start with Catherine Coulter.
Colleagues will no doubt add to these but I think these form a good solid starting point.
Very best wishes

Re: Can you recommend books on Homeopathy?
I would also read up on some of the history.
Homeopathy: A Love Story is fascinating as it follows Hahnemann’s life and Melanie’s
Dana Ullman’s The Homeopathic Revolution
Also:
Coulter’s Portraits of Homeopathic Medicines—3 volumes
Clark’s Dictonary of Practical Materia Medica

Re: Can you recommend books on Homeopathy?
For how-to books about treating acutes, Miranda Castro, Dana Ullman, and others have written good guides. R.S. and Alok Pareek have an excellent book, Homeopathy for Acutes and Emergencies.
It may be beyond where you want to go, however. The late Andrew Lockie also had a wonderful guide to family homeopathy, which I believe is still in print.
My first materia medica was Boericke, which has the advantage of being compact. Boger is also useful, for much the same reason.
You'll also need a good repertory. I'd suggest Kent or Synthesis.
Peace,
Dale

Re: Can you recommend books on Homeopathy?
For personal history--
Homeopathy--A love story on Hahnemann's life and Melanie
a fun book to read
Dana Ullman: The Homeopathic Revolution--a collection of well known
people and their use of homeopathy--very short vignettes
For Study
Clarke: The practical dictionary of materia medica 3 vol
Coulter: Several volumes of psychological pictures of remedies
I always like Murphy's Reperatory but have not worked with his newest edition

Re: Can you recommend books on Homeopathy?
Hello Shelly,
If you are interested in treating what we homeopaths call ACUTES, the British Institute has a great course in Introductory Homeopathy with over 100 pages of remedies and how they can be used safely and accurately.
This is a small course, can be done in about 6 months (it can be done in less time but most people are in no hurry), it can also be used to jump start a student who may want to consider professional training later on. This course goes through some important homeopathic rules and regulations, the direction of cure, and how to administer the remedies, some potency discussions and covers many common conditions such as injuries, falls, colds, flu, pregnancy, nursing and childrens problems.
Good wishes on your studies.
Most sincerely, Maria
