The Controversy of Homoeopathy..
Lionel Milgrom
Come for the day/days or the whole camp!
- by imposing certain paradoxical restrictions on experimental (as opposed to clinical) observation, that might bear more than a passing resemblance to those of….wait for it….quantum theory. Needles to say, this has met with gales of laughter and abuse from homeopathy’s detractors…..but then such is life….
Graduated from the London College of Homeopathy (LCH) in 1999 after 4 years professional training, then spent a year working with and treating the homeless in London.

Took Orion Advanced Course in 2000. Since then been practicing from home in North-West London, interspersed with several periods working at Nelsons, Ainsworths, and recently in a dental practice in Harley St.

Among the exponents of a new wave of innovative research into understanding how homeopathy works, and the therapeutic process in homeopathy and other CAM therapies.

Over 100 academic research papers, articles, conference proceedings and presentations.

These include many responses to the current band of so-called sceptics.

Also, I have been a research chemist for over 30 years, holding several science degrees, including a doctorate in chemistry. I am a Chartered Chemist, and Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry.

My research concentrated on understanding and use of light and biologically-targeted pigments as a novel treatment for cancer. In 2001, this culminated in the formation of a university spin-out company called PhotoBiotics Ltd, to propagate and commercialise this research. I was the company’s first CEO, so that qualifies me as an entrepreneur .

Have also been a science writer/ journalist for over 30 years, writing about chemistry and CAM for many leading newspapers, journals and magazines.

Married with three grown-up children and grandchildren, interest in homeopathy began on moving to London in the late 1970's, and first met my NHS GP, who was also a homeopath….and so my journey began…..

Lionel Milgrom presents :-
Why do so many conventional doctors, scientists, media commentators, and even comedians ‘have it in’ for homeopathy? What is their ‘beef’…?
Part of the UK’s National Health Service since 1948, today some 400 fully qualified NHS doctors practice homeopathy. Yet its ‘detractors’ dismiss homeopathy as ‘quackery’, while the UK’s Chief Medical Officer unprofessionally brands its practitioners, purveyors of ‘snake oil’.

Even when presented with substantive evidence for homeopathy’s efficacy and effectiveness, why is it still impossible to convince its ‘detractors’ homeopathy really does have a role to play in treating patients?

Via campaigning organisations, the media, and the Internet, these ‘detractors’ militate against homeopathy to governments and healthcare providers. What gives them the right to try to deny people in the UK the choice of homeopathy free on the NHS if they want it?

How should a non-scientist get to grips with and unravel the competing claims of homeopathy’s supporters and ‘detractors’? Come to think of it, just how good is the evidence for conventional medicine and how does it stack up against the evidence for homeopathy?

In this talk, I will tackle these questions, explore some of the controversial issues they generate – particularly for homeopathy’s ‘detractors’ – and presents a compelling case why homeopathy should once more be recognised and accepted as a healing therapeutic modality in the developed world, just as it now is in India, Latin, and South Americas, and many developing world nations.

Then, within the context of one particular trial, which claimed recently that homeopathy works but only because of the consultation, the randomised controlled trial (RCT) will be deconstructed as a ‘gold standard’ testing procedure.

This suggests a possible explanation of how the RCT might interfere with the very thing it is trying to investigate - the therapeutic process
