I have a question about insulin.
My cat, dx with diabetes this past January, did a disappearing
number for a couple of days. So he was in poor shape when he
reappeared. He was not eating and very weak. Gave him a couple
of shots of insulin which did not get him back on track. Thought
I was losing him and sat hostice all yesterday. However, it seemed
that he wanted to stay and I contacted Irene and an animal communicator,
animal healer. The communicator said my cat wanted to live; he wanted
to go to a vet and get back on track. The communicator said she didn't want to
proceed until I did this.
Irene suggested I do her protocol which was shared with minutus in the winter.
I have been doing it all day today but the cat, so far, is not showing signs
of rallying; ie, eating voluntarily. He is being fed very small amounts by
syringe on a very frequent, intermittant schedule with a remedy. Irene won't be
available till maybe tomorrow, according to her email to me.
My question is whether giving him a shot of insulin while feeding him this
minimal amount of food would be contraindicated in any way.
I would imagine if dealing with a diabetic on insulin, one would not remove
the insulin.

Re: diabetes in cat
Why not take him to the vet?
Even just for information, maybe have the cat's blood sugar tested, so you are not guessing about the insulin question.

Re: diabetes in cat
the vet who dx him originally in not around and I cannot travel any distance with him, nor can I
afford an initial visit w a new vet
I have insulin here. It is a question of giving him insulin along with the remedy and a vet will have no clue.
Hoping I can wait till Irene is available.
He did tell the communicator that he intends to be around for a long time yet. My cat has always had
a very high sense of himself and his abilities.

Re: diabetes in cat
If he has been on a regular regimen AND you believe the dosage is correct, by all means maintain his blood sugar levels. Homeopathy, I would think, will effect a more gradual change, one that you can observe and for which you can compensate slowly. If you are in doubt, test his levels before dosing. I'm not a vet or MD, but this is my opinion.

Re: diabetes in cat
Dear Tanya,
I would measure the glucose level and use insuin to bring it down.
If you feed babyfood all meat, watered down that will give the best control food-wise.
Add 500 mg taurine per day
He was out with high glucose adn fasting a long time and is likely ketotic. It is hard to get cats out of ketosis. It will take prolonged assist feeding.
But yes control the glucose as needed. Use a human glucometer to test, they are free or cheap, ask at a pharmacy.
You need to keep him indoors and home and get him stabilized with frequent meals of animal protein and insulin only if his glucose level warrants it - if it goes over 200.
Namaste,
Irene
