insomnia

Post by Julie Armour »

My sister has been having a lot of problems with insomnia. She recently stopped taking an antidepressant and started having various symptoms such as dizziness and trouble sleeping. Her ob/gyn said that the drug had suppressed menopause, and that now she was having menopausal symptoms. She has tried almost every natural product out there to help her sleep, but none seem to work. In researching remedies sepia came to mind. Some of the things that made me think of sepia for her are: sleeplessness, tired in the morning, abdomen sometimes gets distended after a meal, eczema, independent in nature, improved energy and overall outlook from exercising, especially dancing, an artistic, creative or bohemian flair, an intuitive individual, with an implicit knowledge of her strengths and much self-awareness, depression, primarily a women’s remedy.
I am concerned about telling her to try it because one article I read said:
“Sepia is a deep-acting medicine and requires infrequent repetitions. It should not be used without consulting an experienced homeopath.” I am a beginner when it comes to homeopathy. What do you think?
Much thanks,
Julie

did anybody reply to this Julie? i didnt see anything. i dont know what you mean about being a beginner, but if you're quite 'beginner' then treating your sister constitutionally isn't a great idea. of course it might work but there is a LOT of room for things to go wrong. even experienced people have a harder time, treating their own families. it'd be a much better idea to send her to someone else.

Yes, I know Julie Mann. If you google her name you can find out more about her homeopathic practice, membership in professional organizations and projects, for example: www.thelearninggarden.com.

My sister has been suffering from insomnia for a very long time. She has tried all the natural and unnatural medicines/supplements out there. I decided it was time to try to help her with homeopathy. She had been reluctant before because she said it never worked for her in the past. After reviewing her symptoms and her personality I came up with arsenicum album. She took the 30c water dose - 10 taps and 1 teaspoon directly from the solution. The first night she fell asleep right away, but woke up four hours later tired and anxious and couldn't go back to sleep. The second night she took the same dose again and fell asleep right away again and slept for 6 hours. She said it was the most sleep she had had in a long time. She did not feel anxious. The third and fourth nights she did the same thing and she was back to not falling asleep quickly and only sleeping four hours each night. After the fourth night she woke up feeling sick with a slight fever. I am guessing this is due to having a very low immune system from not sleeping for so long. Any ideas of what I can do for her now?

Thanks much,

Julie

perhaps the rx was close but not quite correct

or she possibly took too much. when a rx is working you should not keep repeating it.
repeat only if there is a backwards movement in the case. you can also create a proving
if giving too much.

is she a very sensitive person; i.e., reacts strongly to minimal stimulus?

don’t repeat rx now. just wait and see what happens or let her vital force settle down
