Help pls re Allergies

Post by shannongerrard »

Would appreciate some guidance re this case pls.
Hayfever, but said she's not so bad now, is worse in June! Believes it to be a grass allergy (had a patch test at drs & her arm swelled severely) & if she sits on grass gets a red rash. However she also reacts very strongly to cats & to a particular perfume - Dune.

I cant see a clear rx pic & altho i believe tub is supposed to be the main rx for cat & assoc allergies, she doesnt appear to have that many sxs of it so dont know if im justified in giving it (blonde, quite tall & slim, (but brown/green eyes), teenage severe acne, BUT av to cold milk, & not keen on ice cream, no fr of animals, has travelled widely but mainly due to job, has now got a home base which she is happy with.) & when i have given tub in past to similar cases ive not had a result.

Anyone got any suggestions as to what the main rxs would be to consider for cat allergy & perfume?

After repertorisation, as usual, many of the main polychrests are coming up.

Basically, cos i dont have a clear rx pic i dont know how to approach case, partly cos there seem to be so many ways to approach these type of cases i feel a bit confused! eg some info in notes say get them in sep/oct for prophylactic tx, other notes say march. Some say give const (which is ok if you are sure of the rx!) then a nosode, others say vice versa.

I u'stand that psor is a major prophylactic rx but is it too soon to give this rx & wld it help in the short term with her cat/perfume allergy!

The only other physical sx she has is h/a with menses but not every month & gets a sore throat when tired. Not had a h/o of resp ailments, but if gets a cold finds it difficult to get rid of & did get a bad flu a few yrs which has left her a bit wheezy, was given sprays, but doesnt use them as they dont help.

thanx in anticipation.

Hi Shannon,
I have had a case of a definite Grass allergy in a 15 yr old golfer- as
tested by allopaths - and I sceptically sent off for Helios Mixed Grass
200C.

Believe it or not a split dose did the trick!! (+ Euphrasia Tincture
diluted for eye symptoms)It has been repeated once after a holiday abroad
when he got back golfing.

After the season I hope I will see a clearer picture to prescribe
constitutionally. Having now seen him 3 times I think it may be a Nat Mur
case.

All the best

Sounds like you might need more information, to narrow this down to her
individual state.
Ask about dreams, food cravings. What is unique about her? her allergies? Her
mental sx, her history.

Hi Shannon

If I remember correctly Dune has a moss/ lichen base in it, possible link to existing plant based allergies rather than looking at a very general perfume allergy as her allergy seems so specific.

My suggestion is to do another interview, and get some characterizing
symptoms.
Go after mental/emotional symptoms (none listed here...)

Ask questions that are designed to elicit descriptive answers.
-"what do you absolutely love about.... xyz"
-what makes you angry & how do you deal with the feelings & situations... or
sad, fearful.. etc..
-describe your happiest moment in life
-ask about dreams - odd, happy, fearful, recurrent, etc.
-tell me about the worst thing about your childhood ... the best thing..
etc.

draw answers out. ask for elaborations, or ask questions of the answers.

ASK in plain english, for unusual symptoms -
"do you have any odd pains or other things that might help me find the
remedy best suited to you?"

See if you can get her talking, then just listen carefully
Throw out anything that might get her started.. "tell me about the places
you've lived, what you liked & disliked about them..."
