Smits' Universal Layers

Post by Shannon Nelson »

I'm curious whether anyone here has used his book "Inspiring Homeopathy", and have any feedback about how useful you have found it to be?

Thanks,
Shannon

Hi Shannon,

I have experimented with the isopathic approach and treat many families using a range of biomedical approaches at the same time as homeopathy. I still find the clarity of the single remedy prescribed according to similia (ie, the standard homeopathic approach) produces the best result for me.

On occasions I will use isopathy but it has given such variable results in the past that I only turn to it as a last resort ... and generally think that positive benefits from it are probably from similia anyway (with many of the remedies never having been through provings except as crude poisonings or disruptive elements in a patients allopathic treatment). I tend to think of the isopathic approach as a "paint by numbers" therapy - its appeal being that it is easy to identify possible remedies by going through a list of exposures - no need to take the symptoms and then try to choose the homeopathic one. But what appears to be a simple approach is often the harder course for practitioner and parents as what toxins do we rule in and rule out? And it all takes so long. And what if we miss an unidentified toxin on the way through? When children fail to improve with the CEASE approach, the last is often the reason provided and so parents despair of become anxious racking their brains for anything and everything they may have missed. It becomes much easier just to prescribe the indicated remedy.

I happily work with patients who wish to use the isopathic approach as I would much rather they explore all options (along with me) so we can both get the wondering out of our systems and settle comfortably with the treatment that gives the best results. I have never had one abandon the homeopathic approach and I have never seen better results produced by the isopathic approach.
I was asked to write a review for the Similia journal - it can be read here:

I should clarify - I am not prescribing the biomed approaches - they are seeing other practitioners for this input.
