It is that kind of statistic that specifically resulted in the Drug corporations creation of the
Quackbuster movement along with fortunes spent on marketing spin and fear mongering.
I would also venture to say that it lead to many biased and fraudulent studies to prove
supplements, herbs and homeopathy were placebo or dangerous. They should have something
to fear as an informed public with access to real information and choices will reject those
toxic uses of drugs and surgery

They take a lot of supplements.
Journal of American Medical Association showed in 1993 (using 1990 statistics) that expenditure on supplements exceeded all expenditure on Western medicine in USA for example, and it increases steadily every year.

(It scares the wits out of the drug companies - not that they have any)

In order to understand the drug industry, a bit of history is in order. I.G. Farben was a German cartel that orchestrated W-II. In fact, their corporate headquarters in Frankfurt became the the headquarters of the Nazi regime The families that operated Farben had ancestral ties to several of the American robber barons including the Bush family. Prescott Bush in conjunction with Brown Brothers Harriman and the Union bank financed the German industrial recovery from the losses inflicted from WW-I John D. Rockefeller and the Standard Oil Company of New Jersey along with Graselli Chemical operated secret trade between American and British industry to supply war materials for the German army. It was not uncommon to find Rolls Royce engines in German tanks, for instance. Ford built trucks for the German war machine and imported American made parts which were laundered through Switzerland.
On the pharmaceutical side Bayer operated the medical experimental barracks at Auschwitz/Buchenwald in order to develop their nostrums which today induce disease by vaccination to a gullible public which is systematically destroying our youth while garnering massive profits for an evil drug model of medical delivery which emerged in tact from the Nuremberg trials. Our phony allopathic medical system is the result.
The Farben headquarters building was off-limits to allied bombers and it became the headquarters of the Supreme Allied Command following the war. Today the structure is the Humanities building of a university University - adding insult to injury.

It was actually the Rockefellers that taught Germany about developing cartels to control industry and profits.
Companies like Bayer, Merck, Agfa were part of it and survived in the US after WWII. IG Farben was the cartel
group which got broken into 4 major companies at the end of the war. Many of their scientists were brought
by the govt to the US. They became part of the research and development teams of these chemical corporations
and worked on govt projects such as bombs. Hitler was also taught about eugenics from these US barons and
these salvaged scientists brought that idea back here to bolster the racism and other prejudicial attitudes that
prevailed in Germany, and in the US for that matter.
There was a book online called the Crimes of IG Farben that documents much of this history. It was a free download
and quite informative. It gives a deeper understanding to the global efforts for control of the population and the
tendencies people are fighting in govt/globalization today. Drugs, as a form of chemical manufacture are a major
part of that movement for power and control. Yesterday there was an article detailing the Merck scandal on the
MMR vaccine which they always knew didn’t work. The scandalous part was that it was designed to not work so
they could use disease cases to scare the public into more vaccines/drugs.
If this doesn’t demonstrate the heartlessness and lack of any human values in the industry, I don’t what does.

Oh, my goodness. My wife eats yams (another way of saying sweet potatoes), the best source of potassium according to http://www.health.gov/DIETARYGUIDELINES ... endixB.htm every day. She says that they are her candy. I told her that yams were good for menopause issues (she's 47 but looks 27). I am not that crazy about yams, but I could be convinced. Really.

That can be potassium and/or magnesium. One "holds" onto the other to help retain it.

Cell salts do not supply minerals in the material amounts needed.

tamarque et. al.,

You make a point I want to support and amplify. I have gotten to the point where I can feel what works and what doesn't work. One of the things that is not working (yet, hopefully) is just straight diet. I did feel an up-tick with soup, so far I have not yet been able to do a diet so right-on that I don't need transdermal or tablet supplementation. And transdermal for me helps the best. But my point is that I can feel my way along this dark corridor of pain. I paint so much magnesium on my body that when it dry/absorbs, I get it all over our incredibly funky couch. And a good painting down with magnesium chloride can pretty much get rid of 97% of my pain for most of the day.

You seem to have missed the point that our vegetables do not have enough mag and phos due to soil
deficiencies. Magnesium is quite deficient in people in the US. It is now considered by many to be the
new Vit D meaning that mag deficiencies are almost as great as Vit D in the public.
I eat huge amounts of vegetables and organic dairy and still get cramping relieved by Calcium supplements.

Hi,
Both potassium and magnesium are available in great amount in our vegetables. Presumably Carol and her brother eat vetables. Why would it be advantageous to take in extra pill supplies? Wouldn't one think that absorption is a problem before adding pill sources?
Best,
Ellen

For one thing, life expectancy is not everything. My grandfather-in-law lived into his 90's and was a vigorous worker until the day that he died, in his homeland of rural Philippines. It seems to me that much of our longevity is the result of heroic efforts to keep very sick people alive for as long as possible (so that hospitals and doctors can collect payments for as long as possible).

I know for a fact that I would have much less pain if our foods had much more naturally balanced minerals. And living a less dissolute life would have helped a great deal also. (:->)

If the nutrients are lackin in fruits and vegetables, why has life expectancy increased and people are aging more gracefully?

Absolutely absorption is a problem, for basically all old people. One of my solutions is juicing. The other more recent solution is homemade soups with a slow cooker. I got part of this idea from my acupuncturist. Slow cooking a soup with stirring now and then leaches the minerals out of the quinoa and veggies or whatever you put in it. The leaching does not leave elemental magnesium in the water, obviously. It leaches the magnesium veggiate (I just invented that new word) into the water. This gives you more H2O and more of the minerals in biological form. They are both easier to absorb. And of course, they are delicious. Understand that NO commercial soup will do, including any from a natural food store.

Hoping for ideas and suggestions here.

Since this thread appears to be deathless, I'll add an inquiry. On the advice of her doc, I'm experimenting with giving my 92 y/o mom liquid minerals and phosphaditylcholine -- both, I believe, from Body Bio -- because she's declining mentally.
Has anyone else had experience with these or similar formulations?
Peace,
Dale

Regarding longevity, we always think our ancestors died at early ages. Go through some of the old burial grounds in New England, you will see lots of people who died in their 80's and 90's, unfortunately infant death was at a very high rate, so were deaths of women of child bearing ages - some husbands outlived 4 or more wives.
I had an aquaintance who died in his 80's over 20 years ago, who lost his father when he was kicked in the abdomen by his horse. Surgery was risky and carried a huge death toll. Today's trauma therapy is nothing less than miraculous. Infant death is still too high but no where near the numbers we used to see. Yes, we are a much weaker society, but we are coddled, given second rate mass produced foods, too much prepared foods, and far too much junk. Maria

For me it's calcium that stops them.
I also take magnesium to balance the calcium, but magnesium alone will not stop my leg cramps.
