Hi Ellen you will do fine on a 22 day water fast.
You are under supervision and if it needs to be adjusted with perhaps some lemon and or molasses or honey or greens they will adjust it.
22 days is not that long of a fast for you to be so depleted in minerals and vitamins. You are flushing out the toxins.
They will probably have you doing colonics and or enemas during the fast especially after the 3rd or 4th day. It is important for you to exercise and walk and do body scrubs with a loofah and perhaps some massage.
After the 3rd or 4th day your energy will jump through the roof and you might not need as much sleep as the body is not spending as much time working on the toxins found in the food.
We regularly do a 1 day a week water fast and a 3 day green juice fast every month. Each month it gets easier and easier as we don't get very hungry anymore. If we do, we drink another glass of water and get busy doing something. Might be meditating or walking or treating patients or deep breathing, doing research etc. All cravings will pass in 7 minutes whether for food or alcohol or drug addictions. The key is to distract yourself until it passes.
It is important if not under supervision to build up to longer fasts. We currently have friends on day 42 of a 120 or 160 day fast to be determined when they reach that date. But they worked up to it slowly over 20 years. It is safe for 180 day fasts 1x year when done properly.
Fasting is used to expand the consciousness & widen the inner sight. All great masters have perfected this ˜øˆ Jesus fasted for 40 days and nights to get clarity on his mission.
Frequently these longer fasts are on green juices. It is important to chew your juice to mix the saliva in to digest it properly. Many use a spoon to eat their green juice.
As you know breaking the fast is the key. Starting off with mashed fruit for a few meals on day one, lots of water and then on day two add a whole food such as an organic apple. (Organic is important in the USA as apples are one of the most pesticide and fertilized fruits leading in the dirty dozen) or bananas, etc.
If one starts with heavy contaminated food when breaking a fast it nullifies the whole fast as the toxins just released go straight to the cleaner cellular level.
The third day a small salad and more green juice and water and perhaps some fruit in a smoothie and as whole fruit. Then hopefully continue eating a healthy non-gmo organic diet of fruits and veggies will go far in not recontaminating the body.
It is amazing how much the human body put up with what we are now putting in our bodies in the food, air and water.
It is designed to repair itself until one dies. Even at 120 if you get a cut it will scab over. However once it has had enough toxins that it stored in the liver or fat or organs one experiences degenerative dis-eases and cancers.
Fasting can be a great way to help the body detox and prevent or eliminate dis-ease processes.
While in the beginning stages some can lose a lot of weight but that is not a given. In long fasts the metabolism slows down and preserves the body's organs. Many masters who fast a lot look fat but it is the prana that they are building up that sustains them especially with the deep breathing and meditation. Many breatharians who consume no food do not look anorexic.

Have to agree.
Fasting is not the way to get healthy.
By all means stop taking in junk, but take in good nutrients, and good detox foods!
There are superb foods to help eliminate toxins that have accumulated in cells. And they add good things at the same time.
IN addition you need to get your excretory organs in shape first, so toxins flow out freely and do not just circulate and dump back into cells, giving you a most unpleasant experiencer for no benefit.
Eating the right things will speed the cleansing of cells, while replacing with real value.
All fasting does is put the body into starvation mode. There's nothing healthy about that.
Your poor cells go into shock, not health.

By eating more protein and fat (extra virgin olive oil -EVO - and fish oil, NOT any seed oils or soy oils) and WAY less carbohydrates - eat more protein and nuts.
WHy:
YOU cannot burn off accumulated body fat unless there is some dietary fat to get dissolved in - namely EVO, etc
It is not fat in the diet that causes fat in the body - that's a total myth. It is carbohydrates that insulin dumps as fat.
We naturally burn fat in the food we eat first - the body prefers freshly provided fat in food. We dump the leftover carbs (from bread, pasta, grains, cereal, fruit, and junkfod etc) as fat.
Eat carbs only right before exercise - and they will be burned off instead of dumped as more fat.
SO cut out the carbs, and increase the good fat (bad fat is soy oil and seed oil, as in all mayo, salad dressing etc - make your own with EVO) - and you will burn the body fat, and stop adding more.

They say it will work. You can do some research on youtube. Usually proteins such as tumors will break down. Stones tend to be calcified and calcium stores are tapped from bones. Try taking magnesium to help with excess calcium.

I eat very few carbs and only low GI ones and can’t say I have ever missed them. I do not restrict fats.

We understand what you are saying but one can never adjust from being a sugar burner as that is what the body burns for fuel.
Carbs are not the enemy if they come from fruits and whole foods. Processed carbs like pasta, wheat and gluten etc. are harmful to the body especially now that in the USA where 90% of our processed food is genetically modified and not the way nature made it.
The combination of sugars and fats is where the real culprit lies. Fruits take 20-30 minutes to digest. Proteins 30-50 minutes, Fats 5-7 hours. When one combines the fats and the sugars the sugars ferment and overtax the pancreas and liver and leads to diabetes and other degenerative diseases.
Processed fats and oils are ALL inflammatory and can help keep fat on the body. Bing extra virgin olive oil and see how it might not be really olive oil but may be a blend of adulterated lower grade oils with food coloring and aroma therapy to give it that nice fruity olive smell. Healthy fats come from avocadoes, nuts, seeds and fruits and veggies.
Even diabetics can eat a high carb diet if they avoid the fats!
We had a patient with an average glucose reading of 640/day per A1C3 blood test. We put him on a raw food 80-10-10 diet 80% carbs, 10% protein and fats each. His constitution was Nat M after the loss of his beloved wife. We started with 200c one wet dose in the office, we also did acupuncture. Within 3 months his blood sugar is between 90 - 110 average and he has maintained it for almost 3 years now. He comes in about every 3-6 months for a tune-up. He does not take anything on a regular basis for his diabetes and has only needed his constitutional or an acute when and if something comes up. (he had some dental work and took some hypericum and arnica). He follows the diet plan. He was never went on insulin or oral glucose drugs thank God as they are now GMO as well.
Gabriel Cousen's is getting fantastic results and one does not need to go through his residential program to get the results. Get the book and or tapes. To burn fat One must move the body for the most efficient utilization of our food no matter what type of diet you are on. Walking is great. One does not need to work out in a gym you can incorporate exercises in your daily routine. For a ten minute walk do a normal pace for you for 3 minutes then 3o seconds of fast walking then the normal pace again. It will boost your metabolism. Try cross exercising if the body is used to just walking.
In the USA we eat way to much protein of the wrong sources and it is harmful to the body. Protein is in every food we eat along with carbs and most of the time fats. There is more usable calcium and protein in Kale, Broccoli and Spinach than in animal meat.
We do not believe a raw living food diet is for everyone and modifications need to be made for individuals. However we are getting fantastic results in our practice combining homeopathy with nutritional counseling. We don't use many supplements though some deficient people really need it.
Stay hydrated. When the cells are hydrated with purified water the cellular metabolism is efficient and can work to utilize the energy efficiently and it won't desire to store reserves in the form of fat as easily. When one is depleted the body holds on to everything it has including fat.
To burn more fat one needs to move and exercise the body. When the body gets the proper fuel/nutrition in the correct amounts for them the body will be an efficient fat burner as well.
People who took green-tea extract three times a day saw their metabolic rate increase by about 4 percent, according to a study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
One must also get enough sleep. The body produces cortisol from 11pm - 1am if you miss that window the adrenals are not replenished. The extra stress also helps one to keep adipose tissue on.
Personally we are a night owl and when we don't go to bed by 11pm we see the results on our body. Sigh, we have so much work and research to do we miss this one frequently. However we thrive on very little sleep 5-6 hours/ night. We wake refreshed and rarely have energy drops all throughout the day.
One can also de-stress by listening to music, meditating, yoga, or whatever you find relaxing to boost your cortisol levels.
If not fasting eat a small amount every few hours of carbs such as a piece of fruit or some green leafies for protein. This keeps the metabolism functioning well.
Maintaining a proper pH is also important to reverse dis-eases and promote prevention of health issues. It also helps with fat assimilation.
Make sure your gut flora is balanced. Probiotics are key to your ability to assimilate foods and boost the immune system. If these are healthy the extra fat can melt off and your cravings can be reduced as your body assimilates the nutrition more effectively.
Everyone is an individual and there is no one way to lose fat. Get your thyroid checked and a metabolic profile.
Many people believe their weight has to be X.. when their body has it's own set point for what it desires to be. Some people who look skinny (not underweight) are very unhealthy while some people who look healthier can be in great health. Go by the feel and function of the body not the scale.

It is easy to denigrate a system based on what we were taught by the media and those with an agenda. Is your diet working for you? Did you pass the Good Health Quiz? If so keep on eating what your eating, you don't need this type of diet.

We are getting many reversals in the dis-ease process in our practice IF one is willing to make changes in their lives.
Not everyone who comes to me is put on this type of eating. IF you have cancer it is always an opportunity that is given. Fasting is a magnificent way to eliminate cancer in the body. Those of you who believe it is not healthy please research it fully before just saying that can't be healthy. IT IS HEALTHY and can save your life in the right circumstances.
BTW The head of our FDA in the USA is the former attorney and CEO for Monsanto the biggest supplier of GMO's in the world. What they give you in the food pyramid is largely supported by big AGRO influencing you with the flavor of the year.

We understand what you are saying but one can never adjust from being a sugar burner as that is what the body burns for fuel.

one can (at least some can?) run *quite* well with fats as th main energy source instead of carobs. The body has both pathways.
I haberead interesting material about coconut oil as main calorie source having wonderful effects of normalizing brain function in Alzheimers. Also epilepsy.
