My dog has fleas
Does anyone know of a remedy that can help deter fleas that are already on your dog?

I would dust him with food grade diatomaceous earth and maybe try giving him some pulex irritans (which is made from fleas). Not sure the pulex alone would deter them, but it should stop the irritation of the bites.
The diatomaceous earth damages the fleas' exoskeleton and dries them out. It should be dusted on the dog and throughout the house anywhere that fleas might hide. But first, suck some into the vacuum cleaner and thoroughly vacuum everything before and after the dusting.

With all of our cats and dogs through the years, it has always been 100% effective to just add a pile of brewers / nutritional yeast onto a corner of their food dish, and let them eat it free choice. I have read that this is more effective with an animal that's basically in good health, but it's always worked for ours.
If they go more than a day or two without, then they can start picking up fleas again, so I try to make sure there's always some in a corner of the food dish.

I gotta say, nothing works like health. The proper constitutional remedy gives new strength to the life force and tells nature's garbagemen to take a hike. "Don't bother me, I'm healing…"
Non-homeopathically, lots of combing and diatomaceous earth, or DE, food grade only, please.

I will try Diatomacious earth as well as the brewers yeast. I adopted a dog pound dog 9 years ago, his mother was most likely tied out in the yard on very poor quality dog food, and pappa was a traveling coyote/wolf mix with our without doggie genes. The animal is shy, was neutered, tattoo'd and vaccinated against everything at 6 weeks. He is lovely but not a dog, and his health is not very good at all. Doesn't speak or understand much human, he has lots of fleas and I think what they call 'glue ear' (purulent discharges, watery blood, smells terrible and it can turn black), I flush it periodically with grapefruit seed extract and wash it with betadine, but have not had much success with remedies on Hoover. His hearing is impaired most likely (not that he responds when called anyway), At a year old the second cranial nerve to his left eye must have detatched and the eye rolled down, perfectly normal but useless, doctor told me there was nothing to be done about it. I love him, and he can stay with me for the rest of his natural life, but would like to be able to offer him some relief. Ear is worse on right side, has traveled to the left but right now the left is clean. Discharge is sticky, mucus like, greyish to pink and then to black, He has greasy fur, but dry skin under the fur,

Hi Maria
Thank you for taking care of this dog.
I have had bulldogs for many, many years. The ear problem is always there. I read, I think on this forum?, to use colostrum to help with this problem. I knew it worked on leaky gut syndrome, so I tried it on a dear rescue who was near death she got to us. She gained weight on her raw diet, she gained muscle and started walking miles!!!! Her ears were raw, odiferous, painful and her hearing was impaired. She is still vomiting/upchucking.....what I am trying to get at is, with proper nutrition and the right homeopathic remedy, colostrum cleared her ears in 3 days! The discharge is gone, she can hear a pin drop. I do believe colostrum would help at some level even without homeopathy.
Good luck and bless you.

Re: My dog has fleas
My first question is what is he fed? I find species appropriate diet is best and
that means raw and organic meats. Very little veggies, maybe 10-15% is standard,
and absolutely no grains or other junk. Sometime a detox for the dog would be
good and some probiotics as his immune system sounds compromised. The diet
will show on his fur fairly quickly. I find this to be true with my cat if he scrounges
junk food outside—his fur will get greasy rapidly. And saw this with a guest cat
2 yrs ago who was obese on kibble and junk canned food. Within 2 weeks of raw
food he was losing weight and his fur became silky and shiny and he was a joy to
touch at that point.
I think if the diet is worked on, you might have better results with the remedies.
I assume you gave remedies for emotional trauma.

Is it kali mur that's taught as "specific" for glue ear? Which is also one of the cell salts, I think? I wonder if that would be worth trying?

Also, another "I wonder" on which I am not taking time to check for a fit, I wonder about syphilinum?
