help with wound on dog

Post by jarmour55 »

Hello,
My dog got an abrasion on his tail. He kept licking it over and over. He wouldn't let me examine it. After a few days I realized that it was getting worse and he had begun to act withdrawn. I took him to the vet. Probably a mistake, but as I am not very experienced with homeopathy I didn't feel that I could cure him. I used to have an animal homeopath, but she had an extremely difficult personality. Anyways, the vet put the dog on an antibiotic and told us to use an antiseptic to clean the wound twice daily. It is now a few days later and the wound is definitely healing, but I think that it is itching him like crazy. When he stands up he is frantic to get to it. We have it bandaged so he cannot lick it. I am going to try a dose of sulphur. Any other ideas?
Julie

Why not use Calendula lotion on it.
You can also use Colloidal silver if you don’t have the Calendula.
And you can also find a tincture of calendula and hypericum.
All of these are for topical application. They sting slightly when
applying but that passes quickly.
And if I couldn’t figure out a homeopathic remedy, I would have
administered echinacea/golden seal tincture in water instead of the
abs.

I might step back to before the antibiotics and give him a Hepar 30C. The mentals match, as well as the sensitiveness. And he is still experiencing some sensitivity there. I have found that the 30C usually finds its way to either expressing or resorbing the fluids, as the case needs it. I have also found it to be useful when there was absolutely no swelling present, nor redness. Only sensitivity. Hepar resolves the sensitivity pretty fast. Usually within an hour or so.

I did use calendula cream on it initially but I didn't wrap it, so he just kept licking it off. Next time I will e-mail the group before seeing the vet! Right now the wound has dried up and is scabby. the scabs are starting to come off a bit. Will the calendula cream still help?

Yes. It helps the healing of wounds/abrasions.
I have used it instead of getting sutures and healings went very well.

It should, yes. It's a calming and healing agent.

Depends on whether the itching is part of the healing or not I think.
An internal remedy might help the itching if it not from the skin healing.
You can also try Bach Flower rescue remedy to help calm him
