Dear Thiam Chye,

Thank you for your case. My ideas about the case are this..

There are not too many mental and emotional sx that play a part in the
diseased state - they mainly belong to the healthy state, e.g. sympathetic,
sensitive to cruelty, etc. I don't really see them playing a part in the
case analysis.

The remedy I came up with is BROMIUM.

They can be cheerful and dedicated people but there is a theme of guilt
running through. Maybe there is a link here between her father's drinking
and bankruptcy and opposing her partner going into business - the guilt is a
burden, they live their lives trying to make up for either their own or
other people's mistakes. A 12 year old might well pick up on family problems
and blame themselves (she was 12 when the H/A's started).

They are also somewhat disconnected and dreamy in their daily lives.

Fear of ghosts and the dark - they have the delusion that they might see
someone behind them if they turn around in the dark.

Headaches are pressing, >> by the seaside (can also be the opposite) - a sailor's remedy.

+++ chocolate

- - milk

Usually plumpish people and forget about what the Materia Medicas say about
being blonde and blue eyed, they can be dark as well.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes, Joy Lucas

online case STC/Aug.03

Post by petsfriend »

Sim,

I find talking/communicating to be a prominent theme in this case. Talking
amel her headache, sociable, a good listener, etc. Also seems very
sympathetic. Interesting the Phos produced problems. I would be interested
in knowing what happened. Perhaps another phos compound. I found two rubrics
that I thought very compelling, though both are very small (2 remedies
each).

MIND - TALKING - amel. the complaints
MIND - TALKING - desire to talk to someone - conflicts; in order to solve

The second fits exactly what she said was her reaction to quarrels with her
boyfriend and I think this is a very important aspect of the case.

The remedy that came through these two rubrics is Calc-p. Of course, this is
a big headache remedy, esp. before menses, av. milk, des. cheese, ailments
during puberty and quite a bit more matching the case. Scholten says the
remedy has a lot of concerns of what others think of their intelligence.
Perhaps this fits in with why she was "dreamy" and did not do well in
school.

hope this helps

be well

I can see why Sepia was given and note that it has only been tried in a 30C.
I would suggest going up to a 200C.

Dear List,

I am thank for the help that is coming in for my friend.

I forgot to mentioned that she was having headache almost every week few mths ago.
I think it was sepia that change it to monthly. I am terribly sorry for not keeping good records.
(something that I must change if I am serious about Hom.). I am not sure if this changes
the analysis.

Dear Russell

Thanks for the insight. I am very encouraged by the readiness of the list members to share and help.

Phos 6c caused a dull headache throughout the week. There were some eruptions on both upper arms.

I couldn't find the rubics on talk in Kent, Boericke or Murphy. I guess it is from the Synthesis.??

Calc-p is > lying, but she is < lying.
She rather sit down quietly in a dark room.
Is this contradiction enough to exclude a Rx, though other rubics fit?

warm regards
TC Sim

TC,

Why do you think the eruptions are a problem? They could be a positive sign
if coming as deeper symptoms are clearing. Yes, those rubrics are in
synthesis. I would look for other confirmatories of Calc-p if you think it
is a possibility. Desire for smoked foods, travel, headaches from mental
exertion (studying), headaches following the sutures of the skull ( I could
not tell from your previous description. )

As a side note, both Calc and Phos are in Head, pain, sitting amel. for what
that is worth.

Perhaps the remedy during the headache itself is a complementary remedy to
the chronic remedy. Another remedy that looked worth reading is Lac-d.

Dear TC, thanks for this. If you think that the Nat Mur is doing some good
then it is best to wait. It is a deep and long acting Rx and if there are
eruptions appearing you should wait anyway now to see what else happens. I
can't say I could see this Rx in your case presentation but....

I also like the idea of Russell's - Calc Phos. You thought she might be Calc
and obviously there are some Phos elements in the case. Usually Calc Phos
are so irritable and grumpy (which she does not appear to be) but it all
depends on whereabouts on the line of the remedy one is. But either way I
don't see how you can give another remedy just yet, in my opinion.

Best wishes, Joy
