Julie-
An added note to the Kali-c suggestion made yesterday--didn't see any
stark indications for other kalis but another kali could be
considered-if you can confirm it, or if kali-c doesnt pan out as a
bullseye given other kali-c confirmatories and other symptoms in the
case. Kali-s is listed for ringworm, could be more muscular and rigid
fiber than kali-c, and censorius/irascible. But don't see any of the
yellow skin eruption or any other kali-s stuff in your case
description. . Perhaps you can find out more about a past history of a
kali-s type eruption that was suppressed (eg scaly ringworm).
------------------
Kali-s skin (vermuelen concord):
Psoriasis [Ars.; Thyr.]. Eczema; burning, itching, papular eruption;
[10better] open air. Nettle-rash; [11] with or without yellow slimy
tongue, generally caused by indigestion. Polyps. Epithelioma.
Seborrhoea. Favus.
******
Ringworm of scalp or beard with abundant scales.
******
[2] Abundant desquamation. Ulcers, ooze thin, YELLOW WATER. [8] YELLOW
SCALES. [11] Suppressed rash of measles or other eruptive diseases, with
harsh and dry skin. Promotes desquamation after erysipelas; accelerates
removal of scabs in smallpox. Sores on skin with yellow, sticky
secretions on limited portions, or discharges of thin, watery matter,
sometimes with peeling of surrounding skin. Eczema or skin affections;
discharge decidedly yellow, slimy, sometimes sticky or watery matter;
when suddenly suppressed. Diseased condition of nails, shown in
interrupted growth.
-------------------
Or maybe one of the other Kali salts.
Any kali could have prostate probs with the urination sx; restlessness.
kali-c has other keynotes that could be used to confirm-aversion to
drafts, etc etc.-confirm or veer interest to another kali based on how
much the carbonate lines up.
Many of the kalis are listed prominently for numbness of the hands
(which in this case could be :

Hope these observations are helpful.
Noticed that Joy has put crot-h in as a suggestion-the tongue symptom
could be suggestive of a snake, and we see it prominent for the numbness
of the left hand and fingers.
EXTREMITIES; NUMBNESS, insensibility; upper limbs; hands; left (K1038,
G865): acon., aesc., agar., ail., aloe, aran-ix., asc-t., aster., cact.,

crot-h extrmeities (vermuelen)
Sensations: [2] When sewing hands feel dead. [11] Tight, cord-like
feeling from front of left elbow down front of forearm, with "round
spots" of pain here and there along front of forearm; the "spots of
pain" remain only for a few minutes and then pass away, but recur
frequently during both day and night; can't grasp with left forefinger
and thumb, can't extend left arm without pain. Numbness, tingling and
prickling of left hand, on least exertion.
Pains: [2] In top of shoulders. [5] Rheumatic or neuralgic, in
finger-joints, with extreme weakness. [11] Paroxysms of bruised pains in
bones of shoulder. Violent, spasmodic, in left palm as from a bee-sting.
Throbbing, in fingertips.
Observed: Hands tremble, swollen; [5] insensible. [7] Hands go to
the left, more the left; [11worse] exertion. Trembling of hands during
rest. [11] Oozing of blood from under nails. Vesicular and pustular
eruption about wrists. Coldness and blueness of hands and fingers
connected with weak nervous system and heart. Chilblains, esp. when
threatened with gangrene, and when chronic or occurring in not very cold
weather, thus indicating a low nervous and vascular vitality.
Parchment-like condition of skin of hands. Psoriasis palmaris.
Crot-h is an interesting suggestion which ties the hand sx (see if these
match well) in with what Joy knows about crot-h people (I don't have
much experience with this remedy). I might expect to see other symptoms
of snake in the case (although the tongue is suggestive) like blood
disorder, loquacity, etc.
If the sleep sx and aversion touch and seeming rigidity of the
personality (with a strongly principled consistency of activity-(eg when
he decides to quit pipe, he goes cold turkey and permanently) are used
along with the left hand problem, then kali remedies should be looked
at. If it is a mineral remedy case, then a kali remedy is a strong
candidate.
However, this is just one suggestion based on the symptoms you gave, so
if you uncover more, let us know...
best regards,
andy
