Interesting flu type reaction in boy, in the evening before a big day

Post by suse_guse »

Hi all,
I know you cannot advice on specific illness or remedies, but I hope you'll give some advice to help me look the following up for my son, who is a very lively 11 year old, who is very rarely ill or unwell:
Symptoms: In short, they're like the flu, but without a fever.
He had a little sore throat when he got up this morning. I gave him 2 sqirts of colloidal silver. He was fine all day at school, and was fine this afternoon, but got so tired at football practice that he ended up lying down on the grass, to rest.
Very unlike him. At home, my hubby, for reasons unknown to me, gave our son a hot chocolate to drink (I've asked him to not do that again).

When I got home, about half an hour after that, my son was on the sofa, under his down duvet, incredibly tired and almost asleep, feeling cold, and then feeling too hot at other times. He also felt a little nauseus, but that feeling could easily have been caused by the hot choc. I am not sure. He burped once, it "tasted/smelt like" vomit, he said. His eyes were glazed over, and he looked very tired indeed. Normally he looks v. healthy.

He has been drifting in and out of sleep since, 1.5 hours now.
He feels intermittently hot and cold.
His sore throat is a little noticeable, it feels like it's sore down trachea, rather than up in his mouth/throat.
His nose "really hurts inside", but there is no mucus.
He feels hot to the touch on his arm, body, but no fever, his forehead is normal temp, perhaps even a tiny bit cool.
His nausea is almost not there, but it surged at some point, and he urgently asked for a bucket to vomit in. But he didn't vomit, and the nausea has not been there since.

I guess it is a cold or flu variation, but I am not sure at all what remedy to give him, as I don't know where to start in terms of pinpointing the problems.

I also got thinking about how it seems as if he gets a spike of fever, exhaustion, and generally similar symptoms to the ones he is having now, every time we have a big day or a big celebration coming on.

And we have a really great, exciting weekend coming on, which he has been looking forward to for the last month.

I am thinking that perhaps this is connected and it seems to be a pattern. It often goes away by the next morning, but I normally give him some remedy or other according to the symptoms, in order to help him get well again.

I know you can't give any advice, but maybe some of you have some suggestions as to what I could possibly be looking at this time.
Many thanks in advance,
Susanna

Susanna,
Since you've noticed a pattern in your son's behavior -- viz., that he seems to fall ill right before a big event -- you should take that into consideration.
The rubric is MIND, excitement, ailments from. (That's a pretty big rubric, at least in MacRep, so you might take the smaller one, MIND, excitement, ailments from, agg.; mental and emotional consequences.)
Another rubric is MIND, excitement; anticipating events, when. Add to that NOSE, pain, internal and EYES, glassy, and see what you get!
Peace,
Dale
