Re: Magnesium hydrate
It's worse than that - the overuse of chemical fertilizers in American farming leaches the Magnesium out of the soil ..... so you will not get what you need from green veg - they can not absorb magnesium that is not there in the soil!
You'd need to move to the Balkans or some place they still do farming minus chemicals.

Re: Magnesium hydrate
Organic farming works to replenish the soil and uses organics for that process.
That is why there is a real difference in taste and nutritional content of organic
food over conventional, chemical farming. We can do that in any country and
is being done on real organic farms in the US. Agribiz fights organics on every
level, but also claims to produce organic produce. Those corporate farms, however,
use non-organic fertilizers and fight tooth and nail to diminish the organic farming
standards that exist.

Re: Magnesium hydrate
a quick online search brought up many articles. this one from the Vit D Council:
http://www.vitamindcouncil.org/news-arc ... o-factors/
the more vit D one gets, the more mag needed to process it.

Re: Magnesium hydrate
Magnesium and Calcium work together, depend on each other. Perhaps that's another part of the reason why Vitamin D needs magnesium to do its work? (Since its work involves uptake of calcium?)
If you need magnesium but take calcium instead, it can make symptoms *worse*, and vice versa. I don't know whether that's true in all people or not, but for myself and my two kids, I have observed it over and over.
Figs, esp. black mission, are another excellent source of magnesium.

Re: Magnesium hydrate
oooh, I love black mission figs.
Vit K is also critical in this synergy. It is the Vit K1, not K2 that is critical
and is hard to get in foods, but possible. If I recall correctly, it helps keep
the Calcium in the bones and not in the arteries.
