Will A Hearing Aid Antidote Homeopathic Remedies?

Does anyone know if the electronics in typical hearing aids can have an adverse affect on homeopathic remedies?

I have otosclerosis and I'm hard of hearing. I currently have mild to severe mixed hearing loss in my right ear, and I have moderately severe mixed hearing loss in my left ear.

I had Stapedectomy surgery on my right ear 30 years ago which helped a great deal, but the otosclerosis continued to progress and I will be getting my first hearing aid.

I'm in the process of doing some research on the different types currently available, and I came across some info on the NIDCD site that gave me pause.

Apparently there are some newer hearing aids that contain a small magnetic coil. Is it possible for that magnet to antidote homeopathic remedies? My right ear has a fake metal stapes "bone". I'm not too enthralled about the idea of putting a magnet near that even though titanium is supposed to non-magnetic. And since magnets are bad for remedies, it seems like it would be prudent to avoid wearing one in my ear all the time.

I'm just wondering though if anyone has encountered any cases where a hearing aid (with or without the magnetic coil) has antidoted or adversely affected a homeopathic remedy. I don't think my audiologist will know the answer to this question.

Hi Julie,

I look forward to hearing if others have experience to this point, but -- my understanding is that it is only radionically prepared remedies that are negated by magnets. Regular (diluted-and-succussed) remedies are not affected, so far as I have ever heard.

And MRIs -- which are conducted by the actions of HUGE magnets -- do not antidote remedies. At least that's what my prescriber told me years ago before I got one, and indeed it did not interfere with the long-acting remedy I was on.

Just some starting thoughts.

In-the-ear (ITE) hearing aids fit completely inside the outer ear and are used for mild to severe hearing loss. The case holding the electronic components is made of hard plastic. Some ITE aids may have certain added features installed, such as a telecoil. A telecoil is a small magnetic coil that allows users to receive sound through the circuitry of the hearing aid, rather than through its microphone. This makes it easier to hear conversations over the telephone. A telecoil also helps people hear in public facilities that have installed special sound systems, called induction loop systems. Induction loop systems can be found in many churches, schools, airports, and auditoriums. ITE aids usually are not worn by young children because the casings need to be replaced often as the ear grows.
