Gastric flu virus prevention

Dear all,

my whole family has recently fallen sick with an apparently very contagious gastric flu virus with nasty vomiting/diarrhoea and fever.

Arsenicum album has matched the symptoms of most of our family members (with some exceptions), so I was wondering if given as a preventive measure it would stop the viral invasion. How often would you dose in medicinal solution and would the 30 C potency be effective enough?

I work in animals but homeopathy applies to all species.
In cats I use 30C preventively for illness this way:
Make the remedy aqueous (eg one pill in a cup of water, dissolve, succuss well.)
Dose it twice a day for 5 to 7 days, then one a week four times (monthly after that if/while the outbreak is ongoing)
