Dear Mohammad - salaam
LACH is also in hoarseness, Constriction of chest (hence the reason Lachs cannot wear tight things!) and Nausea.
Does IP cover other symptoms sited by Rochelle?

For example IP is not in Grief nor Stomach, Heartburn which are main symptoms. However, Lach is in both!

Dear Soroush,

Ipecac covers hoarseness, constriciton of the chest but more importantly for me is the fact that since Rochelle has tried Ars , I would have gone with Ipecac to help with the nausea.

There was a spell of Gastroenteritis here in the UK last year and Ipecac worked like magic. Patients came up to me saying that their nausea feeling would disappear within 10 mins.
Of course they were on Ipecac for a few days - taken everytime they felt nauseous.
Ars will not help as much, and one of the patients also found it difficult to breath.

Hope that helps :)
take care

Dear Geo
Let us imagine a crime has taken place and the police are seeking the criminal.
The witnesses say the suspect was a female. So we can eliminate all males.

Also that he has Far Eastern features. So we can eliminate all other races.

More witness information indicates that she was tall - so all short females are excluded.

And so on.
So if you choose your symptoms and rubrics with care you can use the elimination method to reach the remedy needed quickly.
However, it must be a good match and cover the majority of the patient's symptoms. Must always check with MM.
So no doubt Rochelle will check to see if for example Ip or Lach would match her patient!

OOPS.... sorry about my naivity. I thought you where going to cross
the rubrics and pull the remedy out from it... just like that. Obviously
that is not what you are doing as you are well aware of the limitations
of such proceedure.
I am new here... so sorry again.
-geo-

I agree that this manner of crossing rubrics can bring interesting
candidates. I use this method also, but
I can't help thinking that the resulting remedy will not nescessarily be
even close to the similimum. The
reason, IMO, is that a Particular rubric of the proper remedy could not have
been repertorized yet - so it will not show up.
Or a Particular "small" rubric that indicates a candidate does not
nescessarily belong to the real similimum.

Dear Rochelle

The fight/flight feeling is a state of high agitation - I think the nearest
we have to it is EXCITMENT which has a large rubric, but Excitement Morning
has 19 remedies.

If you cross these with 'Sensations as if' of Fishbone in the throat, you
end up with LACH only!

Good luck

Soroush

Hi I have a difficult case and wondered anyone could help me with some
rubrics.

Background Woman 66 came to me last month after coming out of hospital with
chest infection and diagnosis of COPD. She had lots of physicals , lots of
post nasal drip which she thinks is causing the hoarse voice, indigestion,
heart burn , all day nausea. First remedy I gave was Ignatia (grief ) - not
much progress if any. Kali Bich helped the mucus a bit. Last time I saw her
she went on about burning- burning with sciatica, eyes, heartburn. Throat
feels like fishbone in it. I gave Arsenicum, mainly because of the anxiety
and burning on 18th April. The nausea went away for 5 days and is back today
but despondency has not improved. Mucus is now not sticky more like catarrh.
Am going to send her water potency of Ars to take daily (5 succussions 5
drops). I am worried about the constant nausea and heartburn Sx and have
told her to get the all clear from her GP.
She wakes in the morning feeling despondent that lasts all day ("like when I
lost my husband 3 years ago") . On pushing her she says it’s like a fight or
flight feeling and it is this I would like any ideas of rubrics for.
Thanks

This is not Gastroenteritis – this is something that has been there a few weeks. I spoke to her again today and took a more detailed description of what had happened with her chief complaints since the Arsenicum. It appears that many are improving.

Burning eyes are not burning but now more a sting (the Euphrasia eye drops I made her up deal with this irritation)

Catarrh – consistency of this has gone from thick to thinner and now coming out from the nose which it wasn’t before.

Indigestion – better

Heartburn - gone

Croakiness- not as bad

The nausea left her at lunchtime today (this went away for 5 days from being there all day)

Pain in breast bone she says has to do with her despondency feelings Mind; anxiety; chest, in; sternum: (2) anac, bry, I have been remise and haven’t asked her to describe the pain, Aching pain has ars, burning pain also has Lach as black type.
Fishbone in the throat (no actual pain) still there

Sciatica – still there
I think there is enough that has improved to drip feed the Arsenicum in with a water potency succussed each day before taking a dose. (She does take daily asthma inhalers giving after the chest infection and drip feeding a remedy is sometimes indicated when a patient is on constant allopathic medication.)

She has many allergies which I didn’t mention before.
Re the despondency , an Arsenicum patient does get more despondent and down than the average person. She is getting anxiety on waking with palpitations describe the fright and flight feeling as this. Lachesis is indicated but she doesn’t appear to be Lachesis to me- she doesn’t have the jealousy, and other mentals . I feel Arsenicum covers her mentals better. I wanted to talk to her around Lyco but my next patient came to the door so it will keep for next time.
Please note I have tried to write the above in a teaching capacity – in fact I had a student sat in with me during the last follow up. All I really asked for was rubric help with the Flight and fight feeling!!!

I shall send her the Ars in a water potency to be going on with and see if
that at least gets rid of the nausea again. It has made improvements to the
nasal discharge as well so I live in hope J.

They’re not as I remember checking for this because other than Ventolin I hadn’t heard of these particular ones. I wasn’t trying to do 10 things at once this evening I would look them up again J They are Spiriva, Seravent and Ventolin.
OK so I checked one of them -

Hi Rochelle,

Do you have any modalities for the case? Does anything make the nausea/heartburn better or worse? is there any periodicity, time of day etc. that's worse? Any taste in the mouth, smell to the mucous? Is there a clear morning agg on other symptoms or only on mental?

Vera

Hi Vera,

Missed you the other week when in your town – just didn’t have time for our usual coffee!!! Felt guilty I didn’t phone!!
Asked all those questions at the first consultation- nothing !!!!! Morning agg is with the mentals and the nausea. There is an emotional etiology to the anxiety in the morning- a churning anger with someone which she let bottle up until it felt like she would have a stroke. I don’t have permission to write about it – so don’t wish to. I used EFT on this and she hasn’t mentioned it since. Thanks for kicking my memory!!! The reason for the anger was an Arsenicum type of thing. Staph comes out for her mentals but for none of her physicals – but maybe it is what she will need to clear the case. Will think about it more!!
All the best
