Hi,
You gave a patient a rx (natrum carb) in LM/1 for one month and continued with it in LM/2 for another month.
The patient took 30 daily doses of each rx.
On the follow-up you decided to gibe a new remedy.
After 1.5 months on the new rx in LM/1 -- the patient and you came to the conclusion that the first rx was thde correct and you want to give it to him now.
He still has the old used bottle of the LM/2.
Which potency of the first rx will you give now?
There are many possibilities, like:
LM/1 ?,
LM/2 ?,
continuing for 2 weeks with the USED bottle of the LM/2 thet he still has and then go up to the LM/3 ?,
LM/3 ?
Other? ...
Hoping for your good advice.
Many thanks.
Rafy

Re: RETURNING TO A PREVIOUS REMEDY
There really are no possibilities.
You continue on the first LM where you left off, after succussing anew, since you don't repeat what was previously taken, the vital force already was exposed to it even though there was another remedy in between.
§ 247 Sixth Edition
It is impractical to repeat the same unchanged dose of a remedy once, not to mention its frequent repetition (and at short intervals in order not to delay the cure). The vital principle does not accept such unchanged doses without resistance, that is, without other symptoms of the medicine to manifest themselves than those similar to the disease to be cured, because the former dose has already accomplished the expected change in the vital principle and a second dynamically wholly similar, unchanged dose of the same medicine no longer finds, therefore, the same conditions of the vital force. The patient may indeed be made sick in another way by receiving other such unchanged doses, even sicker than he was, for now only those symptoms of the given remedy remain active which were not homœopathic to the original disease, hence no step towards cure can follow, only a true aggravation of the condition of the patient. But if the succeeding dose is changed slightly every time, namely potentized somewhat higher (§§ 269-270) then the vital principle may be altered without difficulty by the same medicine (the sensation of natural disease diminishing) and thus the cure brought nearer.1
Per the Organon 6, a 4 oz LM bottle should last about 15 days if you take ONE tablespoon to prepare the daily cup.
My previous LM prescriber trained by Dr. Luc says use ONE teaspoon, which would give about a month from the LM bottle.
I've taken from ONE teaspoon to ONE tablespoon to prepare the daily cup, using 4 oz water but find ONE teaspoon works best for me.
Boiron LM vial instructions say take 1-3 teaspoons from LM bottle to prepare the cup.
Hahnemann says to succuss the LM bottle "perhaps" 8-12 times, I started with 2 and increased by 2 succussions. Sometimes 8 is too exhilarating.
Once you have the daily cup prepared, then you take from 1 to several teaspoons of that mix as Hahnemann says take "increasingly"
§ 248 Sixth Edition
For this purpose, we potentize anew the medicinal solution1 (with perhaps 8, 10, 12 succussions) from which we give the patient one or (increasingly) several teaspoonful doses, in long lasting diseases daily or every second day, in acute diseases every two to six hours and in very urgent cases every hour or oftener. Thus in chronic diseases, every correctly chosen homœopathic medicine, even those whose action is of long duration, may be repeated daily for months with ever increasing success
A sensitive patient may have to go to a 2nd dilution cup taking ONE teaspoon from first cup in another 4 oz. water, stirring, then take ONE teaspoon.
Depending on the chronic condition, you may need to take a 2nd dose from the daily cup, which you can do after vigorous stirring, spacing the dose about 12 hours.
While not encouraged, I've had success doing this when needed but don';t do it often.
What you don't want to do is overdose LMs which can severely aggravate the chronic condition and sideline you for months.
This can happen if taking the LM multiple times a day as Hahnemann says to do for acutes.
I have proved the LM I'm currently taking, and then stopped, went on another remedy, then restarted when needed, where I left off.
The beauty of the LMs is that the patient is in full control, once they see how they feel can manage their chronic condition as they control the succussions and frequency as their cure progresses. I've went from LM6 to LM10, eliminating a lifelong medication by doing so, and while not "cured" can skip days taking the LM. As the homeopath, you should choose for them how much from the LM bottle they prepare each day, teaspoon, tablespoon as to not confuse them.
