sleep

Post by Rochelle Marsden »

I have a patient who all she wants to do is sleep . She sleeps 10 hours and is still tired in the morning. I am looking for a rubric like sleep – must or sleep- needs. Has had every test under the sun and this has been going on for 15 years since post natal depression. Never been right since. I haven’t seen her since 2005 and it is same old story. Nothing helped much and she is very sensitive to remedies .
Thanks

Rochelle

Have you tried Staphisagria? Causative factor of depression during pregnancy time, normal or cesarian etc. will get some hint - hope so

Perhaps consider
SLEEP – Unrefreshing - Prolonged – (NuxV)
SLEEP – Deep – unrefreshing
EXPRESSIONS – Sleep – Rise – desire to remain in bed

There seem to be a vast number of SLEEP - unrefreshing subrubrics – so perhaps you can find something that fits her descriptions of feelings, timing, etc.

Funnily enough I thought of this one mainly because I thought her husband ruled her because she says that the doctors want her on anti-depressants and he says that he won’t support her if she went on them. She was given Prozac many years ago and ended up in hospital when she withdrew from them. However on detailed questioning this morning I think it is just this one thing that he is adamant about.
Interestingly her worry and anxiety goes away when she is on holiday BUT the tiredness and need to sleep all the time is still there. She is desperate to get better and she wants a job as she feels guilty not having one and says she needs one for her own self esteem. She has spent years doing voluntary work in a school yet when I job came up she did not get it. Recently she was given an interview somewhere but didn’t go in the end because of the anxiety she had about it.
Main Sx :-

Unrefreshing sleep

Fastidiousness about the housework- tidiness and cleanliness . This could be a guilt because she has nothing else to do, however she is > occupation

Anxiety about money - causeless because not in debt but she thinks she should be contributing to household money

An exhaustion which she says is mental not physical , but what about the need for sleep?

Worries about everything

Fibroids – suppressed with the Merina coil . This is new since I saw her in 2005 – said she had heavy menses and a scan picked this up

Comes over as very nervous in speech but is quite loquacious

Sensitive to remedies. – she has to have water potencies or she gets aggs.
I gave her Ignatia which she has never had from me before. In the past Phos seemed to work the best but didn’t hold. Sepia didn’t do much and the last Rx I gave her Carc – she got worse on. Have also given her Spectrum which made her a bit better for 2 weeks but that was it! She was given Ars by a previous homeopath which did nothing and made her worse.
Overall I want to find a rubric for the need for sleep and the fact that it doesn’t help!!!
Thanks

Hi Donna ,
I put the second two in my rep this morning when she was with me and also Sleep; unrefreshing; sound, although: (15) carl, conch, gink, granit-m, MAG-C, ost, pic-ac, pter-a, rad-br, sal-ac, sarr, SOL-M, stel, wies, zinc,

I can’t find your first rubric. Is it from Synthesis ? If so can you tell me the Rx in it.
Thanks

Perhaps try focusing on DESIRE and MIND rubrics that have to do with bed or sleep
Also if 'exhaustion' of mind is not producing good rubrics(remedies) try searching with the words 'prostration' and 'lassitude'
