I used to give massages in the nineties to a man who was the consultant for
the Iams cat food buyout by colgate, I think it was colgate..maybe it was
proctor and gamble...Anyway..he represented the man who was selling to the big
corporation. This is that man's story. He came to some ohio town in a truck
with lots of kids and his wife without a job. He got a job in a pet store.
They were selling this specialty cat food..iams. The man became a partner with
the owner and after ten years they were doing so good..the first owner wanted
to leave and the second owner gave him one million dollars so that he became
the sole owner. And then I'm not sure how long after...but not too long..he
was offered 3 billion dollars by this big corporation. He gave a million
dollars to each of his employees and 100 million to the town they lived
in...with the stipulation the town could only use the interest off the money
for town use. My client's job was not only to negotiate the deal with the
corp. but to help him figure out how to set up all the charities. Now isn't
that a nice story?

pardon my cynicism but setting up charities is part of the marketing modus operendi of
large corporations. they use these charities to market their products and draw people in
under their control.
hard to imagine a man with this much money, in this day and age, working with corporate
america being so benign in purpose.

As I understood, that wasn't the corporation, it was the guy who'd just been bought out for $3 billion. *I* would have done something similar in that situation, and likely you would have, and Carol would have. Not everyone would have, but some would!

i agree that we would probably give money to others, but i still would have my doubts
about this guy. would need more story to trust.
but if it makes one feel better, then let them take the interpretation of choice.
