Dear Soula,

I wonder whether you've considered the implications of what you've asked for. Are you aware that cetaceans are sentient beings, with complex communications; culture; musical fads; and a sociality superior to that of humans? Are you aware that they remain in contact with one another across great distances and suffer deep grief at the loss of loved ones? Are you aware that hunting drove several species to the brink of extinction and that since the global moratorium on whaling the sole basis for Japanese whaling has been so-called scientific research?

Are you aware that the homoeopathic materia has no shortage of medicines, merely a shortage of conscientious proving of those already available? Several thousand substances being in somewhat homoeopathic use, perhaps several hundred have received provings that could be described as adequate. The remainder have been introduced by those keen to make a name for themselves as pioneers without applying the requisite conscientious effort, and they are next to useless because their provings are too inadequate.

Those who would like to do homoeopathy a favour by conducting provings can contribute most usefully by proving with discrimination those medicines some of whose pathogenetic symptoms we have but about whose pathogeneses we must know much more in order to use them with any reasonable degree of homoeopathicity. Of those, there are several thousand to choose from.

The option of introducing for the greater good a remedy based on whale blubber is an ignoble illusion. The illusion that all whales are the same, at least in their blubber, regardless of species, age, and the location and season in which the individual is murdered; of the possibility of doing good by killing good individuals for doubtful ends; and of greater extension of the homoeopathic armamentarium through this introduction of an essentially unidentified, unreproducible substance than through contribution of thorough pathogenetic trials of medicines obtained ethically: all this illusion is ignoble in arising from a desire for easy pickings; from indiscriminate belief in convenient premises; and through suppression of its victim's most essential humanity.

So I ask you: have you considered the implications of asking for whale blubber for pathogenetic trials for homoeopathic ends?

Yours sincerely,

John Harvey

And we do have Ambra grisea, not the same obviously but..... Would have to say I agree, if you have energy and time to conduct provings then I would also encourage you to re-do rx that either have scant or no proving but already exist in our MM's.

Since you are in Canada, you must be aware of the restrictions on whale hunting.
However, there is a Native culture on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State
where they do a whale hunting 1x/yr as traditional practice. You might contact them
to see if they still do this and try to secure a sample.

Dear Soula

No I don't have whale blubber, but I have a question - Why blubber? Most other remedies are made from the poisons, milks or secretions of animals, so why fat???

You should ask the Japanese, they will kill humans if needed to kill whales.
