Baby born Friday by caesarean a couple of weeks early to diabetic mum- very large but yesterday lungs collapsed + infection. Lung function was underdeveloped. Baby is now in ICU and sedated but if I am asked to go along I could do with a suggestion of Rx to take with me. Am thinking Laurocerasus but unfortunately I don't have this amongst my hundreds!! Mum had a very stressful pregnancy prob Staph was needed but not sure if she took it.

. The appearance of baby and nature of its breathing might guide . Would wonder about Carbo Veg?/. Would any of the above remedies match the Mother's state during pregnancy, Very Best Wishes, Jean

Re: new born
Mmm actually maybe Pulsatilla. Baby was 10lb 3.4 ozs and very bloated - looked rather Bufo!! At the moment mum is happy that they have been moved to a specialist hospital ands baby in ICU on oxygen. Apparently bloods were better this morning.

Oh you wouldn't give Bufo because she's bloated and what - looks like a toad? All that bloating suggests 'dropsy' (is that term still used by allopaths?) so the heart is involved - makes you think of Digitalis or Arsenicum and possibly quite a few other rx. Hope baby is better now.

Re: new born
Sorry didn't give the full story- large birth weight, bloating and toad like is because this baby has been born to a diabetic mum on Insulin. Baby has to be weaned off insulin over the next few days. This is why the baby was delivered by caesarean a couple of weeks early. The last child lost over a pound in weight in the first week.
I haven't heard anything else since this morning.

Re: new born
I personally like the term dropsy but medicine calls the bloating edema and rates it according to how much there is. If you have someone with "pitting" edema, it means you have touched them with some pressure and their skin maintains the indentation. The longer the indentation remains the more edema is present, a 4 is the highest rating.
