Met a lady who has exceptonally dark patches under both eyes. She said they came after an accident that damaged her nose (as well as much other damage). This was more than 10 years ago - and while all else has healed - the dark patches remain. They remind me of the dark blue/black bruising you see after nose surgeries - but I have never seen those last more than a week or so (without homeopathy). Has anyone known such patches to last this long - and how would you rep this?
Thank you in advance.

dark patches under the eyes
Re: dark patches under the eyes
Seen this a lot in chronic cases and the causes are varied but you could use 'slow to heal' and then the best is probably 'injuries, chronic effects of' and obviously Arnica is one of the top rx for this and so well known for its black eye sx, even if they are chronic. Hamamelis as well.

Re: dark patches under the eyes
Thank you Joy – she is a self-prescribing ‘fan’ of homeopathy with no training. She uses Arnica frequently for minor injuries, but was not aware of the differences in potency. Oh my. I did encourage her to take the next step in homeopathic education – and she seemed interested. In this situation (she is not a client) I am using the chance meeting for personal education.
I am interested to learn more about the nature of this symptom that you have observed ‘a lot in chronic cases’. The only dark patches I had seen previously in chronic cases were of a duller blue color. They had a distinct characteristic of ill defined edges, and seemed to ‘fit the face’ of someone with chronic issues (i.e. the look of overall fatigue, ill health, etc.). Can you please describe the symptoms you see often in the chronic cases?
In this case the appearance was definitely the ‘fresh’ coloration you would expect to see immediately after impact or surgery. Also in this case, they were equal on both sides of the nose, and a distinct ‘mis-match’ to her otherwise healthy appearance. I don’t know if they did any corrective surgery after her accident – if so – the surgeon did functional and not cosmetic surgery.
I started with Eccymosis and Purpura, and also Face-discoloration –black – spots, but was concerned that I needed a rep that included the factor of long duration. Thank you – I will include ‘slow to heal’ .
Again, this is just a matter of education – not prescribing for any individual. Also – since this is theoretical – assuming there are no other aspects to the ‘full case’ that need to be considered at this moment. With a long duration (10+ years) physical symptom such as this – would you start low, knowing the remedy would most likely need to be repeated frequently (i.e. LM01) or start with a higher potency knowing the individual seemed to be in good health and strength at this point?
I do remember hearing someone discuss Hammamelis (low potency) in a cream under the eyes for chronic dark circles based on fatigue – but never heard any specific cases or experiences. Have you?
Thank you for your input, perspective, and discussion.

Re: dark patches under the eyes
Congestion, injury, sinus, worms, fatigue, tubercular diathesis, allergies, poor nutrition and more can be reasons for this appearance and then all cases have to be looked at for individuality and there will always be 'substance' to add to make up a fuller case which in turn helps find the simillimum.
This individuality also means you choose potency and dose according to needs.
Have had several cases requiring Hamamelis in potency (not cream or liquid or gel) and fatigue is often present in the cases that need this remedy mainly because of its haemorrhagic tendencies and this in turn causes an ongoing or underlying fatigue.

Re: dark patches under the eyes
PS
how often does she actually take Arnica - maybe she is proving it, i.e. maintaining the discolouration
