coffee antidote

Post by Priscilla Tan »

Coffee antidotes remedies. My understanding of that is, these two cannot be taken together or very near to each other.

What if the remedies are taking early in the morning and coffee consumed in the afternoon, would that antidote the remedies?

There are those who have experienced a coffee antidote, apparently, and others, like myself, who have never experienced this to be the case. It is often said that a properly chosen remedy cannot be antidoted by a gross substance, despite admonishments to avoid mint, coffee, liquor, etc.

Of course, if coffee is taken compulsively or addictively, it becomes a maintaining cause - part of the disease picture of the patient, and in this case the curative potential of even the most properly chosen remedy may be impeded until the habit is discontinued or at least moderated.

So I wouldn't worry about a cup of coffee taken at any time, although it is best to avoid consuming anything for a while before and after taking a dose - some say an hour. Certainly several hours, as you pose, would not be a problem.

Coffee does not necessarily antidote remedies. It's not that simple.
First of all, certain remedies (such as Nux Vom)are sensitive to coffee - others not.
Secondly, it depends as well how much coffee you are used to drinking, and what effect it has on you. If you drink it every day, and are used to it, it will probably be just fine.
In my experience (as a practitioner and a patient) neither coffee, mint nor food has any lasting effect on a well-chosen remedy.
