Well it didn't seem to upset me. I take it each time now if I have mercury fillings removed. This is since I got sharp stabbing pains in the liver - most unpleasant. The Merc Sol 6c, on the advice of my homeopath, settled it.

My understanding is that chlorella binds to the mercury in the GUT and carries it safely out of the body. I don't see how it can carry it out of the teeth unless you chew it slowly all day long!:) :)

See

It may be that mild chlorella does not mobilize it out of the teeth..................but I don't have definite information saying that it doesn't

See info on DMPS
http://www.mercola.com/article/mercury/ ... nation.htm
One should use DMPS with great caution and NEVER use it in patients with amalgam fillings. Ideally DMPS should be administered after 25 grams of ascorbic acid administered intravenously. This will minimize any potential toxicity from the DMPS.

Some people are able to excrete mercury more easily and then there are NON excretors.

Liz, you are often posting your guesses about things and how it affected you

You need to be a little more exact when advising others to do something..................
also Hal Huggins, an expert in mercury in dentistry says most chlorella itself is contaminated with mercury, itself

and detoxing from mercury is not quite as simple as something like cilantro and chlorella.

Dr. Andrew Cutler , expert on mercury chelation says on page 89 of his book: "Therapeutic approaches currently offered by some practitioners but which should NEVER be used include: DMPS by injection except when oral administration is contraindicated and dosage is low, DMPS or DMSA on any schedule not involving frequent administration of equal doses for at least several days in a row, EDTA chelation, or penicillamine in any form. Supplementary cysteine, glutathione, or a "high sulfur" diet, or chlorella should NOT be used. All of these "therapies" will be VERY HARMFUL to you."

According to Dr. Cutler , some people have bad reactions to chlorella. In fact, it's not uncommon at all.

Most recommend that you don't take it until all fillings are out, and even then in moderation. Cutler seems to recommend staying away from it altogether. I say, make the most logical and the most safe decision.

http://www.detoxmychild.org/mercury_autism_faq.htm
ChlorellaAndy: "While there is little in press that shows chlorella to be harmful, there are multitudinous observations of real people which show that. All you have to do is ask around. Chlorella is simply another "sulfur food." It is very harmful to people who are high in sulfur."

""Cilantro. Untested. A few reports that it MAY cross the blood-brain barrier and chelate mercury, but no data. Please bear in mind that no one knows what the ingredient in cilantro is that MAY do this. Is every cilantro equal? Who knows? I don't see how one could possibly be even somewhat sure that you are keeping a relatively steady blood level of THE INGREDIENT when we don't know what THE INGREDIENT is or if all cilantro has the same amount of it. And if anything in mercury chelation is more important, I can't think of it." "

see it is much more complicated than you have suggested

Well, your advice is just fine - but take a good pinch of it yourself.
First or all, go and find out exactly what chelation is! Don't just fling words around without knowing what they mean. And read the articles you recommend yourself - if you did, you would see that no one on this list is talking about chelation or the use of DMPS! No-one is contemplating intravenous infusions of anything, actually. Chlorella is taken in tablet form, and as i have already said, works in the gut. And if you read even further, you would also know that:
However, what the investigators failed to account for was that the binding coefficient of chlorella to mercury is far in excess of its potential to release mercury into the body. It only ABSORBS mercury, it does NOT release it into the body.

I rest my case. Chlorella is a safe, efficient way to remove mercury from the body. It is what was recommended to me by a health professional who knew what they were talking about - they had seen it work - I saw it worked. That's called evidence. I see no reason not to recommend it to someone.

I'm very involved with vaccine dangers work and on vaccine injured and autism email lists and have been for 8+ years.
I also am very familiar with the variety of things being used for detox and chelation these days
I posted on that. It is a milder form of chelation and may be fine, but may not, while amalgams are still in the mouth
I'm so relived at your pronouncement based on so little information

Hello all,
Thanks for the responses to my question (which are lively as always).
I was asking partly out of self interest as I have a mouthful of amalgam fillings and partly out of curiousity regarding what processes there are for purging the body of mercury ... I will read the articles referenced in your responses (thanks again) and will have a careful think about whether my symptoms may be as a result of mercury intolerence.
thanks again
Andy

Chlorella, cilantro, garlic, - and other approaches to protect from and
promote excretion of mercury have helped some and also harmed some. A
practitioner who has researched thoroughly and has an open mind should
know this.

Any recommendations for them should also come with a qualifier - that
you need to be aware of how they are affecting you, and there is the
potential that if your body is set to retain mercury or if you are
sensitive to sulphur based foods, they could make the problem worse.

Cutler is against cilantro because it chelates mercury and not enough is
known about the way it works so there are no safety guidelines for how
to use it so that it doesn't make sensitive people worse. There are a
lot of people, including me, who can tell you from experience that
cilantro will set off an array of symptoms. The smptoms are probably
related to the release of mercury from body tissues and blocked
detoxification pathways.

That is why I recommend high dose activated charcoal and lots of fibre
as the safest approach for a swallowed filling and following dental work
where there is potential exposure.

What is safe for one person can be a disaster for another. A
practitioner with the mindset that Chlorella and Cilantro (or any
approach for that matter) are curealls, won't be open to seeing that
their clients are getting sicker because of their prescription. (Been
there, done that, as a client)

How do you know that? How can you even dare to presume that about another practitioner? Don't you think - just for one teeny, teeny little bit - that you should be more circumspect with regard to other professionals with plenty of years of experience, partuclarly as you know nothing about them? In fact, your attitude is hilarious, and very much in keeping with the way of this list - no-one can recommend anything if it does not agree 100% with the ideas of certain people on this list.
I have never met so many people with such inflated opinions of themselves!
Oh - let me also remind you that chlorella is a very popular supplement in its own right. I'm still not sure what you have against it.
