colubrina conundrum....
colubrina conundrum....
Hi Jas and everyone who has entered into the spirit of trying to sort this
out,
<< (latin name Colubrina) 1. Botanical genus (Colubrina) bushes and small
Great but does it have a proving?????
I'm betting on Nux as the baby had been given Bryonia a few times and Mum
knew that name. Lots of people have contacted me and this is what the
majority think. If the family ever get in touch again before going to
Brighton to live next week I will ask if Nux sounds familiar.
I think we really need someone from Brazil to say what Colubrina means there
to be sure!!
Regards,
Rochelle

Re: colubrina conundrum....
Dear Rochelle, I would bet that it is Nux Vomica as well. Buckthorn, which
is what Colubrina is (Rhamnas family) is used as a cathartic, laxative,
nausea, griping pains - getting much closer to Nux than anything else.
as far as I know, none of the Buckthorns are used homeopathically - perhaps
they should be?
Best wishes, Joy

Re: colubrina conundrum....
Hi Rochelle ,
actually the quoted entry was from another portuguese dictionary by a Brasilian homeopath Jose Mirilli from Rio both he and other people I have contacted have said the same thing that
both Colubrina and Nux Vomica would be using their respective names and that they felt that it was more likely to be bryonia ...

In Boericke's MM one finds Rhamnus californica as well as some other
Rhamnus' listed and in Clarke's MM, Rhamnus catharticus (Buckthorn).

Re: colubrina conundrum....
Yes Sue you are absolutely correct - never checked Boericke and should've
done because he always excels on the plant Rx and I don't know how I missed
it in Clarke - probably looking under Buckthorn. Well the plot thickens -
Rochelle, you have opened a can of worms - I give up!!
Best wishes, Joy
