Dear Rochelle, just to add to the confusion - if it is the plant Colubrina
there is Asiatic Colubrina = Buckthorn, the seeds are used as a
hallucinogenic snuff (also called asian snakewood - probably because
Laticauda Colubrina is a snake.

Texas Colubrina (also a buckthorn) is also called Hog Plum or texas
snakewood and then there is Colubrina Hawaii.

And then of course there is Lotha Colubrina - which is an oyster!!

Unless the rx really was one of these then it must be sold under another
name as has been suggested. A dangerous practice indeed!
