PASSENGERS REFUSING FULL BODY SCAN BARRED FROM FLIGHTS--UK

Post by John Harvey »

I'm trying to make sense of this message, MM. Could you expand upon it a little? Perhaps say what things they are that are national, or who they are, and what you mean by this?

Thanks --

John

To waste money on technology with scant benefits in saving political face and in habituating obedient little lambs to humiliating, intrusive surveillance and fairy tales of "harmless" surveillance radiation is to prevent its expenditure instead on means that could possibly have security benefits and could be consistent with democratic principles, the precautionary principle, and the rule of law.

So it's patently not the case that wasting it in this particular way is the best these irresponsible officials can do for anybody's security except, just possibly, their own job security. I think it's arguable that it is the worst possible thing they could be doing for security and for the public good in general.

Brain in gear!
