Hahnemann's son

Post by Shannon Nelson »

Browsing, I came on this touching and fascinating article, one of
David Little's, about Hahnemann's son, Frederick Hahnemann: "[a story
of] of mystery, madness and genius."

Enjoy!

Shannon,

What a story and what a pain !

I believe F Hahnemann was even above the Father. I resent the words 'mad' and 'insane' . Geniuses are always that way. Impatient with lesser mortals, flying at the least dissent.....

My own Guru was like him only. They are the flavour of this mundane and ordinary world. They only add colour.

Returning to the story: I had two drops of tears as I was reading of his treating the epidemic. When I narrated this to my wife, my eyes were still moist.

Thanks for this treat.

Venkat

So thought-provoking for so many reasons, isn't it? And with a sadness and sweetness I hadn't realized in Hahnemann's life...

What we read in that article I don't think could be called madness, more "eccentricity" and "oversensitivity"! But it does seem that genius and madness can fly close together; I've thought that perhaps the same sensitivity and complexity that we call genius, is maybe more susceptible to taking on "too strong a current" (metaphorically speaking) and blowing a fuse?? Or simply placing too much strain on the nervous system, such that not too much more can be borne? (E.g. not much room left for filtering reactions to make the "mere mortals" comfortable!)
