Re: Ulcerative Colitis

Post by priscillasohsh »

Hi,
My friend (52 yr old) has been diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and surgery is needed.

Her symptoms include fever and frequent diarrhea.

May I know would homeopathy treatment be just the giving of fever or diarrhea remedies or would there be a remedy specific to healing of colon?

From my little understanding of homeopathy, the remedies are chosen based on the symptoms and her personality. However, wouldn't such an approach be too narrow and unable to treat something so severe or at it's root cause?

What would be a homeopath approach to treating a case like this? And would a diagnosis be helpful in choosing of remedy?

Thank you.

Ulcerative Colitis

Post by Rochelle »

There are 108 remedies for Colitis in my rep and everyone will experience it in different way. This is the reason why your friend needs a consultation with an experienced homeopath to establish all the physical and emotional symptoms to find the correct remedy. The remedy chosen would have as many of your friend's symptoms in it as possible to have a good chance of helping the situation
Hope this helps

If she finds a good homeopath who can treat her, would surgery be avoidable? Or would she still need to cut away the bad colon and then move on with healing using homeopathy?

Dr A U Ramakrishanan often advises surgery to et rid of the bad parts be it a tumour or what. he then gives homeopathy to prevent a reoccurrence.

In part it depends on just had badly the tissues have already been damaged. Tissue which has *died* won't regenerate; but if there's enough living tissue (and not divided by an area of completely dead tissue) then it should be able to be done without the surgery--but I am only guessing and assuming based on how *other* situations can resolve with homeopathy; it's possible there are other issues in this situation.

But even if she does turn out to need the surgery, homeopathic treatment would make the surgery less traumatic, the healing faster, and the recovery more complete. However, she'd need to have a practitioner who's up to the severity of her situation *and* with whom she feels enough confidence and rapport. Is she interested, or does she know anything about homeopathy?

Hello Pricilla,

Homeopathy will serve as a key in healing the situation you describe, but there are going to be many elements to the process. If your friend needs surgery due to tissue damage beyond repair - then homeopathy will serve well to prepare her and allow her to heal well before and after the surgery. If the tissue is not that badly damaged and she is being frightened by her doctors into considering heavy medications or surgery - homeopathy can help her find balance and perhaps enough time to start asking (demanding) better answers from her doctors. A good homeopath can help her in becomming her own best advocate through this situation. Simply persuing the surgery without addressing the root cause(s) will not resolve the problem - but WILL introduce many more problems in her overall health picture over time.

Quickly getting to the root causes will be important in helping your friend if surgery is avoidable. Please remember that most colitis cases have root causes that include diet - and that even minor dietary changes can relieve symptoms considerably. A homeopath will refer to this part of the puzzle as removing the 'maintaining cause(s)'. Not every homeopath has a good education in the dietary portion of this puzzle. Please have your friend consider adding a naturopath to her healing team. Of course, a naturopath who is also a homeopath is ideal - but that depends on the individual practitioners in your area.

Rochelle,
That's what Dr. R. recommends for cancer, but it's not necessarily the same with ulcerative colitis. I believe that can be healed with homeopathy and without surgery (though I haven't had enough personal experience in treating ulcerative colitis to say that authoritatively). I guess it would all depend on how badly damaged the colon was.
Peace,
Dale

Dear All,

I am very grateful to all for responding to my email, it's wonderful to know there is a community who would selflessly share valuable insight to a disease.
I will share all these info with my friend so she can make an informed decision.
She has an appointment today with her doctor and will get the report on the result of the coloscopy done.

She told me she used to get diarrhea whenever she drank milk, she had thought it was milk intolerance, so maybe milk is the 'maintaining cause'.

She has been having this 'digestive' problem for quite a while, she never thought it would progress to such a serious situation.

Now I guess the challenge is to find a very good homeopath with good knowledge of diet in our area. We are from Singapore and there is little or no awareness of homeopathy in our country.

Best Regards,
Priscilla
