A Study on the effects of HFCS - measured in humans

Post by Jennifer Ruby »

I wonder if we've had any Provings on High Fructose Corn Syrup? If so, I
wonder if this would be helpful as a remedy? Anyone know? This stuff is
in EVERYTHING!
Wouldn't be quite so bad, except that it's all Genetically Modified Corn
that they're using!

HFCS effects measured in humans

Research in humans now finally showing the effects of high fructose corn
syrup:

"Over 10 weeks, 16 volunteers on a strictly controlled diet, including
high levels of fructose, produced new fat cells around their heart,
liver and other digestive organs. They also showed signs of
food-processing abnormalities linked to diabetes and heart disease.
Another group of volunteers on the same diet, but with glucose sugar
replacing fructose, did not have these problems."
"Fructose bypasses the digestive process that breaks down other forms of
sugar. It arrives intact in the liver where it causes a variety of
abnormal reactions, including the disruption of mechanisms that instruct
the body whether to burn or store fat."

The issue, by the way, isn’t so much the difference in the amount of fat
fructose consumption produces. It’s what it does to our metabolism and
where it puts the fat it creates that matters. And I don’t use the word
“our” lightly. Significantly, this is one of the first studies not to
use what scientists refer to as an “animal model,” aka rats — this study
was performed in humans.

The study quoted below seems to be with fructose (bad enough, of course) but not HFCS—which somehow shuts off the hormone that should tell us we have eaten/drunk enough, or so I have read. The obesity here is surely due in large part to HFCS. But there is a disconnect below in the use of FRUCTOSE vs HFCS, isn’t there? See starred bit… Teresa (Northern VA)

Jennifer,
I've been trying for over a year to get a sample of HFCS. Even though it is in everything, you can't buy it! I even tried to order a sample from a company in China (where most of it comes from) and couldn't. What's not mentioned is that HFCS is created using bacteria - Aspergilla as well as amylase digestive enzyme which are used over and over again in the process. (We can be sure at least the energy of these things remain in the product.) Additionally, more than half of the samples tested in a recent study contained Mercury.
I have made a remedy from Tonic Water without quinine which contains just water and HFCS. I have not given it a full proving yet, but I can say the small one I did for myself, it stopped my sugar cravings immediately. It also halted the crying episodes my daughter was having which were directly caused by eating food containing HFCS. (We also halted the HFCS as much as possible at home but she still gets it minimally at school.)
At some point, I hope to get my hands on real HFCS to do a full proving!
Also, just as an FYI - agave necter is made using the same highly chemical and genetically modified enzyme process as HFCS. And according to Weston Price, during the off months, honey is made by feeding HFCS to bees. And people wonder why the bees are dying off.
Truly,
Erica

Not that I know of. Good idea though. It would be great to prove that, soy, MSG and aspartame...all of which a very large population are now poisoned on.
