I hold the vial sideways (parallel to floor) between thumb, and 3rd, 4th, 5th fingers and tap the top of the vial with my index finger.
The tapping gently moves one or two pilules down the vial to its mouth where, with a final tap, they (it) will nicely fall into the cap you are holding under the vials mouth with the other hand.
It is then easy to tip the pilule from the cap into your dilution bottle.

Crikey, you must have good eyesight and nerves of steel. Most of my LM vials from Homoeopathy International are corked, not capped. If I try to tap *one* of those poppyseed-sized pillules into a bottle I get 4 or 5 at a minimum and several more end up on the desktop. As well, I get performance anxiety trying to accomplish all that in front of a paying customer
Chris.

No, really its easy - it must be all in the tap.
The eyesight is another thing that we won't talk about.

Try tapping it into the cap of your dilution bottle.

arrgh.. It's so quick and easy using a wet toothpick to transfer just one pillule. It acts like a magnet. And there's much less chance of skin contact.

Re: Removing poppy seed size pilules (Was: that the same potency shouldn't be given twice in a row)
And I fold a small clean piece of paper in half and tap the vial to spill out one or more pellets onto it. Then I use the toothpick to nudge one or two down the crease and into the mixing bottle. I never add water until the pellets are in the bottle, in case a bunch fall in at once. If there are extra on the paper I return them to the stock vial.

The maths are a challenge
But I would say that a near approximation of the previous dose will be ok. I have had this happen several times and just changing the potency to this approximation is enough to begin again so to speak.

Fine-tipped steel tweezers (for removing splinters) work for me.
