Thanks - I had a new case in yesterday with diverse symptoms that I can't find a Rx for and there was nothing special about food,fears etc to pin something on. She suddenly came out with the fact that she would like to be a lizard and bask in the sun all day. She also loves the sun and heat and said she is happy sitting still on her own. So that's why I asked
Her PC is vestibular neuritis with vertigo and an intoxication feeling and labyrinthitis since a heavy cold in July (no other aetiology) but she also wears a brace at night for TMJ and has this stitching pain down the left side of her abdomen after passing a stool. She was with me 2 hours and it was still there when she left.
I found

Abdomen; pain; sides; stool; after: (3)

but that was all. I have given her Rhus Tox 30 - because it has intoxication feeling, chilliness, her stiff muscles > later on in the day, the labyrinthitis , TMJ, absence of sweat but am not convinced because she is not restless , it doesn't have the > occupation although she did say that before all this she was busy busy. She returns to work for the first time today since July.

This one is not a Lanthanide!!!!!

Dear Lynn,
Thanks for that I will look them up. I have just had an email from her to say she can't believe that she failed to tell me her greatest fear - of wind. There are no interesting Rx in the rubric but there is earthworm - but I don't think that would take kindly to basking in the sun. I am going to ask her what about the wind is frightening to her.

Thanks Jean, I will look into it.
The Rhus Tox has helped a bit with her stiffness but not with the dizziness. She tells me normally her left leg is painful on waking but it wasn't until she started moving around which is the opposite than usual!!
However since this is a SRP I think , a Rx from this rubric maybe what is needed.

The other way of looking at this case is that maybe I should just be looking at the present dizziness and intoxication feeling as an acute - sort this out - and then go for a constitutional? I am thinking Nux Vom now. However I wonder if Joy would say it is a Chronic as it has been ther since July but gradually improving with the rehabillitation exercises (throwing yourself down on the bed stuff to try to right the inner ear.)

I think the NBWS a cold is significant, i.e. the vertigo and ear problems have arisen since then but then there is so much more, the TMJ, the stitch pain in the abdomen after stool, extending downwards and now you say there is some body stiffness as well.

I was also going to say that don't Rhus pains usually go upwards? The stitch and wanting to be still and aural vertigo (common with the sx you have described a bit like Meniere's so the intoxication isn't that strange a sx) sort of makes you think Bryonia, also has that affinity to the zygoma region (TMJ?)

But if you are going to see this as a chronic and the acute merely brought out further sx to include, then Manganum looks interesting. Everything goes to the ear, deep inside the middle ear this is why they have a fear of the wind as this <<

Maybe with the explanation below you can see why I am thinking of treating the acute and then later the rest of her. I have left her some Nux Vom 30 to see if it helps with the dizziness tomorrow. maybe I should go higher than 30 with the Rhus Tox. When I am not certain I stick to 30!!
The condition has been called Labyrinthitis - not Meniere's- apparently there is a difference but she had forgotten what is was. And they also came up with vestibular neuritis. All this lot is the acute and the rest the normal picture as I see it. I have asked her today how long she has had all this stiffness as she didn't really talk much about it because she came because of the tiredness and dizziness which has still not completely gone although is a lot better? It may be since a car crash 12 years ago when she tore a shoulder muscle and still gets aches down in the arm and hand with pins and needles. She does a lot of driving and this makes the aches worse
As a person (31yrs old) she appears very laid back- no plans for the future, happy living on her own and doesn't know whether she could be bothered with a boyfriend. She says she is set in her ways and that her friends say that her tidiness is anal although she says her clothes are not tidy at all. There is a fear that she will get a bug if someone sneezes by her.
I see restriction and am thinking Kali - maybe Kali Bic because of the gluey sticky discharge . Oh yes there is this strange stitching pain after a stool I may have mentioned which was still there at the end of the consultation and she says her throat is her weak spot. She had her tonsils out as a child but still will get a sore throat. Her throat gets dry and itchy when she is anxious.Up until 2 yrs ago her mother had to go with her to the dentist because she was fearful feeling that she can't breathe and is restricted when she had fillings.
Re the throat thing - as she came wearing a tight polo neck sweater and scarf wrapped around her neck I dismissed snakes. However a snake is a lizard?

She is happy being with friends and family. Although she doesn't appear to be the most dynamic person in the world it may be because of this acute as she said that usually she is busy busy all the time.
Mother has had breast cancer but is OK now, father asthma. Lots of cataracts in grandparents.

OK so an acute, although it seems to have gone beyond that to me, or it is within range of a sub acute, lingering acute, almost chronic (typical of what some call viruses, the sx often lingering and merging into a more long term illness). I think I would be tempted to go with the chronic because I can't but help think that the ongoing TMJ is linked to what she has now and also all these other sx as well, but I can sort of see your option - a nbws a cold and a possible ear infection, which is why I suggested you check her sinuses with the ear problems, there could still be infection. Have you checked inside her ears, looking for inflammation.

Doesn't matter what you call it Vestibular Neuritis, Meniere's is similar, TMJ, they are just names that suggest a whole range of sx and you obviously need her individual ones, covering the vertigo, ears, the original cold (might be a lot of useful sx from then), any hearing changes, discharges (you mentioned sticky?), pains, modalities - the usual thing.

Nux vom is hardly 'laid back' though. Seems quite closed to me and there's all this anxiety underneath. Have mentioned Bryonia and Manganum especially as rx but not sure you've got the whole case here to make other suggestions. Could be a connection to dental work/fillings as an afterthought, seeing as you mention it
