Forthcoming BBC Horizon programme

Forthcoming BBC Horizon programme

The BBC is making a programme about homoeopathy for broadcast in
prime time. Horizon is a reputable one hour science feature. Filming
will begin in June and the programme has been researched over the
last few weeks. If anyone has any points they wish to have considered
please let me know and I will pass them on. Please remember that the
last programme in this vain had a significant impact on the public
awareness of homoeopathy. The outcome was that most practitioners
waiting lists doubled overnight. Regards Tony Pinkus

Exceptionally unlikely that something strongly supportive of homeopathy will
appear on The TOOB in the U.S.

Perhaps if several hundred people in a given broadcast area were to hound
their local "public broadcasting" station day & night... or more likely
yet, see if you can purchase a broadcast quality tape from the BBC and get
it played on local "public access" channels of cable..

Otherwise what passes for a "free speech media" in the U.S. will simply
ignore this in it's typical "soft censorship" which dictates with an iron
fist what is in the velvet glove whose implacable grip appears as a
benevolent dictatorship of the mind; broadcast to the citzenry, to keep the
populace swilling at the troughs containing the garbage offered there to
compel material enslavement to the corporate overlords.

If you're unfamiliar with censorship in U.S. media see
http://www.prwatch.org/prwissues/1998Q2/foxbgh.html

This is a case of one extremely powerful corporation exercising censorship,
whereas with homeopathy we're faced with nearly 80 years of "bad press" or
"no coverage" thanks to the influence of the pharmaceutical industry and
it's prescribing allopathic medical schools, quackbusters, etc.

Tanya,

I really don't know if it will or not. I also am fully aware of the slant and censorship of the media, but Ainsworth is certainly hoping for some good testimonials, which is always helpful.

Regarding past & future BBC Horizon programmes on HOMEOPATHY -

I've found a TV/Radio/Internet broadcasting company (based in W.Virginia
U.S.)
http://www.wisdomchannel.com/
which might be prevailed upon to either broadcast this particular BBC
program or perhaps even do their own series if they percieved enough
interest.. they've done a series on acupuncture & a variety of topics under
"Wellbeing"

If a few hundred people from around the country were to write or call them
and mention their desire to view programs or a series of programs on
homeopathy... http://www.wisdomchannel.com/contact/frames.asp

Dear all, you may or may not know that my "other" business in life is
television, although our company is run mainly by my husband. I will get him
to phone the BBC re this programme to get some info. For those outside
Britain I might be able to get copies made - you might be able to get more
info from the BBC's website or directly from the Beeb

Yes Horizon is a highly thought of prime time slot - but it depends on who
is making the programme. Yes it could get millions of people interested in
Homeopathy, regardless of its slant - but I wouldn't hold your breath. As to
selling the programme that is pretty well tied up by the BBC but I am sure
they would consider requests to take their product elsewhere.

If I get anything interesting I will post to the group.

Best wishes, Joy Lucas

The last programme I remember seeing about homeopathy had a elderly hippie
looking man using his pendulum to decide which remedy to give!!! This sort
of publicity is unlikely to get anyone to my door!!

Hi all,

If I remember correctly he was the same gentleman dealing with Sarah Ferguson ...
i.e. high profile ... maybe it would be worth getting the point across about how we train
as homeopaths, the schools/colleges as I find that people are wary purely because they are unware of just what or how current homeopaths are taught and get put off by this as we may be unprofessional/cowboys (untrue of course)

is this what you were trying to say? or are you coming from the angle that only qualified GP/ homeopaths need apply??
