Wants to shock
Wants power - to be seen as allied with the dark side
Is a witch
Morbid preoccupation
Poor self-image - dismissive of perceived poor appearance

I definitely think this is a valid symptom:) Been there.

i totally agree. while wearing black is stylish, it is also stark and dramatic.
and when only wearing black is a persistent pattern there are some real
questions to be asked about the why's of it.

If you looked at my closet mostly black. I am neither a witch or morbid. LOL. Funny how people view colors. Black does make a large person look smaller- slimming especially pants for a woman with large derrière. Don’t look beyond. Perhaps it is just a color they feel looks good on themselves.

Hi,
Go to any big city. My references are New York and Tokyo. Are they all depressed? Black is easy to match. All black is even easier.
Among teenagers, back 10 years ago there was a style devoted to black clothes, chains and in the extreme body piercing. The kids tended to be very sensitive and introverted. It was called punk. I don't think they were necessarily druggies. In Japan, you can check out these styles by going to a big book store and looking at the magazine section. Unfortunately the magazine won't tell you who the real person is hiding under the style.
Best,
Ellen

By the way...this is my closet(s). I really think its a matter of laziness and
slimming. I've never been quite aware of how i appeared to people...then one
day i saw my reflection in a sunlit window..and i had a moment of shock that
my hair was black. It has only been when i've worn something other than black
and people make comments am i even aware how much i wear black. I'd say the
underlying meaning of black, after everyone's inspiring comments is that i'd
like to appear somewhat attractive without putting any effort into it. I don't
like to show my waste..my belly has always been 10 to 20 pounds larger than
the rest of my body since i was a child. I have beautiful legs..they never
gain weight. Once i wore something that was a little tight for me..not the
loosely over the stomach area...and several people said ....oh, you've lost
weight...so covering the belly isn't always slimming..anything could be under
there. . Anyway, today, I went out and bought a very red sweater. What does
that mean? LOL.

Hi,
That's why we take the case and ask what a symptom means. I wouldn't rep something like all black clothes, I would use the observation to talk about something deeper.
Best,
Ellen

You have a similar taste in colours to me? Only I can't wear black
because of all the animal hairs: makes me look as though I am wearing a
very threadbare sweater. :-)

Oh, but I have the opposite to you: fat legs but a slim tummy - we just
can't win can we!!

Though I have to say that I am disappointed that you aren't a witch: I
would have loved to have been able to say that I knew one! :-)

Well.. black is not a color, it actually absorbs all light and none reflects back. Whereas white is the combination of all colors, and of course all colors have a vibration. The slimming trick is just another way to 'hide' in black and not be truly seen as you are -sorry to say. I used to go with society on that one. I own no black now...so don't invite me to a funeral ;)

Aversion to bright color, Sil (definitely will hide and suppress oneself)
Sensitive to colors, Choc, Kali-C, Tarent

Witches today don't wear black, that's old stuff and for fake/newbie ones being dramatic :) ....most go with the 'day colors' and only one day is black. I knew several.
