watery doses - protocol for Symphytum?

Hi all

I recently broke my foot and experienced again first-hand the wonders of Arnica and Ruta in first aid - the remedies brought bones that were sticking out (without puncturing the skin) back in line, reduced swelling, pain etc. so that the x-ray people were really surprised to find I'd splintered 4th and 5th metatarsals.

I was in a cast for 5 weeks, and the bones are mending and seem more or less in place although it was a bad break. I can walk on the foot and seem to have full flexibility of movement. The cast caused a hard swelling of the ankle and foot, which arnica seems to be bringing down well. However - I'm not sure how often to take watery doses of Symphytum. When I work with medicinal solution, I work with the patient's response - gradual improvement continue dosing, drastic improvement or aggravation stop dosing. Here I'm not sure what to use as the marker, as I don't feel pain really in my foot, only when it's swollen.

Any suggestions?

Symphytum does have hard swelling (Lippe) but not a huge affinity (not sure about painful hard swelling) but if you are sure of the rx then yes you do need markers - trouble with treating yourself

Test dose, watch and wait a certain amount of time during which if the pain persists with the swelling then try another dose. You will be looking for a diminished pain level as well as swelling reduction. if this occurs then you only repeat as necessary when the sx come back, take another dose and then the sx should be further diminished. But if the pain and swelling persists on the same degree, after a few doses then think about another rx.

But if the Arnica is curing this as you say then do you need the Symphytum?

The swelling itself isn't painful - just more discomfort walking on the foot when it's swollen. The swelling also extends to the sole of the foot, and has been going up and down in general.

The doc said the bones haven't fully healed yet, which is why I was thinking of taking more of the Symph (I had taken several doses after my foot was put in a cast and they told me it looked like the bones were sitting right).
