What about giving a dose of Syphilinum and then repeating the Pyrogen? Sounds very syphilitic, and if the Pyrogen got things moving, then stalled, it could be a nosode that's lacking.
Have you also considered Pyrogen in a different potency? Maybe you need to run through higher potencies?

Now that's an interesting comment! There are 133 remedies listed, of which about 28 are grade 4, in the rubric "Generals, fistulae." ?????? Did s/he give anything specific re potency and etc.?

It is the nature of the venom to cause tissue damage, breaking down
protein in the area of the bite and destroying red blood cells, so is
this not just natural to the acute situation rather than a demonstration
of miasmatic traits?
With regards to potency, I use the remedies in water and increase the
potency slightly with each dose. In the past, where I have had such
rapid responses to a low potency, I have not had to jump to the higher
ones, in fact I rarely have had need to touch high potencies. I would
be interested in people's experiences in changing potencies in cases
where they have had such a good response to the potency they are using.
Do people find that where they use the remedies in water they can stay
with the same potency for a while just upping it gradually with
succussing?
Thanks for your further input Liz.

Kerry, Rochelle is totally right on! I remembered hearing that as well and thought it was from Robin Murphy. His Materia Medica says "Ulceration and decomposition- Offensive secretions, discharges are acrid and foul... slow, hard, painful processes." Worth a try!!

Re: Any suggestions? + update
I've had very good luck with upping potencies with water, Kerry, and I think if it were me, I would continue with that for awhile and just clean the area with calendula and let the pyrogen do it's thing if you've already seen a big change with it. You might try using the gunpowder or the carbo an. as an intercurrent. I know I've heard Ian Watson talk about gunpowder being powerful for wound healing and I've used it with success. Is it likely that a cat would have a syphilitic miasm? Just asking because I haven't thought about that with treating animals up to this point. They certainly could have the psora, cancer or aids miasms, though, so I guess they could have sycotic or syphilitic! I'd really be interested to hear more about that from people treating animals.

Hi again Kerry
Re: the use of a nosode, it's classically indicated when remedy that has worked well, or is well-chosen, stops working.
Secondly, the whole picture of Pyrogen is syphilitic - never mid whether it's acute or chronic disease. Just look at your description: it's the nature of the venom to cause tissue damage, breaking down protein in the area of the bite and destroying red blood cells.
That's what syphilitic diseases do - destroy tissue. And your cat is susceptible to it, which is why he can't throw it off. Hence the miasmatic picture that is emerging - anyway, that's my reading of it.
Keep going - you've done well so far!

I think tuberculosis can also destroy tissue? Which is maybe part of why that miasm been spoken of as a "combination" of psoric and syphilitic--am I remembering that right? (I don't know whether that would apply to this case, tho.)
